From Greg Oliver and Steven Johnson's book The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Tag Teams:
Asides: That's how they spell Miller's last name, and the "one foreign team" thing runs afoul of things like the Rougeaus. Maybe one face foreign team at a time?
Anyway, I just love that they took it as a challenge immediately without even wanting to think it over. Somehow made it work for almost a decade too.

And very diff from what they were doing before as far as comedic style goes

For as much as people complain about them as a team in the WWF, they made way more money as the Bushwhackers and lengthened their careers by a couple decades so good for them.

I flat out despised the Sheepherders as heels and it was so bizarre to see them going from the most sadistic bastards to fun loving wacky dudes.

Honestly one of the decidedly good ideas Vince has had, but that it lasted so long is a credit to Luke and Butch for putting their all into it.

Bushwhackers was a better gimmick.
This was when Vince has creativity.

Well, to be fair, the Rougeaus had moved from Montreal to Memphis. Haven't you listened to their theme song?

Bushwackers and Hogan were my favorite dudes when I was a little little kid.

There are more pictures than I'd like to admit from when I was a little kid where my brother and I are doing the Bushwacker march. Even now, at 31 years old my mom and dad still know the bushwackers because we did it so much as kids.

Vince having people work different gimmicks than the ones that they already had over doesn't always work out, but in this case, it totally did. He had a way better track record with this strategy in the 80s and 90s than he did after then, but I can't deny that it is occasionally necessary.

Bushwhackers were a huge favorite of mine. Old school fans may crap on the silliness but the gimmick change gave them those extras years, lots more money and probably more fame to this day. I like how they slightly re-invented themselves in 1994 with new color schemes and it gave them an extra two years. From 1994-1996 WWF definitely needed the Bushwhackers since they were a real team and they needed them for the tag title tournaments because very few real teams were around then, it was usually makeshift teams. I also wish Bushwhackers had more Royal Rumble match appearances over the random non-roster guys from 1993 to 1996.

I liked how Butch described it at the HOF. (Paraphrased): "And I said, you want me to be a comedy act and do the dance, I dunno, and Vince said you'll be earning this much and I immediately went Hey!" (does the Bushwhackers dance on stage)
Also Butch on Rumble 89's "I was buggering my arse off for what felt like 30 bloody minutes, Luke is in there for 10 bloody seconds, and we got the same bloody pay!"
One of my favourite HOF speeches, which I would never have called before hand.

Exact same thing here...Im 34 and loved them and Hogan growing up so much so that my 72 year old father has a pair of my old Bushwhacker hasbro figures on his shelf at their house...

They were entertaining and I liked their cameo on Family Matters, though that match at Rumble 92 vs. Beverly Bros felt like an eternity, geez.

Then again, they made it work for so long. It was the talent of the wrestlers and the quality of their characters at the time. They started around Survivor Series 1991 based on the team structure, had the Rumble match, dark match at WrestleMania, probably were meant to team against each at Survivor Series 1992 (Whackers spot went to Nastys) and had a house show or Coliseum Video taping series of matches with Tiger Jackson and Little Louie as the teams' partner. I'm pretty disappointed Blake Beverly became a total jobber after Beau left.
