Well, I do have an Itunes account, but I've transferred most of my music to my Google Play Music account, and I buy my digital music from Amazon, so this doesnt mean that much to me.

I hope it doesn't turn out to suck ass. Itunes is critical to me for developing and syncing playlists for on-air play.

I have downloaded a lot of TV shows and albums on iTunes, what does that mean for me?

Purchases better be carried over to apps.

I have downloaded a lot of TV shows and albums on iTunes, what does that mean for me? It’ll go to your TV and music apps respectively.

I have no problem with this. iTunes is a clunky, bloated mess that really needs to be trimmed down.

What happens to people who still use iPods?

iTunes has always sucked. It's been a long time coming, tbh.

I barely listen to songs I downloaded after I got Spotify Premium.

Hopefully, my iPod Classic still works with the new incarnation.
Mainly use it just for Podcasts and Audiobooks these days though.

What happens to people who still use iPods? I'll admit to not reading up on the news yet because I'm too tired, but I'm curious about this, as well. My dad uses his iPod and loves his iTunes account. Getting him to try something new is tough, so I'm not looking forward to breaking the news to him. Old people, am I right?

So basically they'll just be transferring uploaded content to the new apps? Good. My nephew uses iTunes to help sell his music. He damn near had a panic attack when Google+ sunsetted because he thought he'd lose his Youtube channel, I was not looking forward to having to talk him through another crisis.

So does that mean I won't get a popup every week on my computer telling me to download the latest iTunes update? Shucks...

Apple is moving away from the obsolete concept of "downloading" music.

I always preferred Rhapsody/Napster over iTunes, to be honest. Can’t remember the last thing I downloaded off the latter, it’s been ice ages (and I ain’t talking about the movies).

It's an end of an era, but given how long it's been around, it's not a shock the system as-is has become old and busted. It makes sense to move past it.
