There have been several animated shows based off of comic strips, but what are your favorites? My fav of all of them is Garfield and Friends (I even like the US Acres segments). Dilbert was also tons of fun. Anyone remember the Mother Goose and Grimm cartoon?

Boondocks. I don’t care if the last season sucked, the other ones were too good to focus on the one bad.

Garfield. Always been a favorite of mine growing up. Strip and TV show Same here. I loved Garfield as a kid and I still love the show and strip as an adult. Peanuts is a close second, but Garfield is God tier.

I am partial to the 70s Filmation Flash Gordon cartoon. Then Peanuts then Garfield.

Peanuts specials were great, Boondocks and Garfield were deservedly some of the first things mentioned.
I thought the Dilbert show was pretty good for what it was, despite me really not caring for the comic strip much at all, even before finding out what a dickweed the writer was.
Kinda surprised Mother Goose and Grimm never got made into a cartoon, kinda seems like it'd have translated easily, but then again, so would Luann and some others that to my knowledge never happened. Makes me wonder why Baby Blues, of all things, got a cartoon.

Although Boondocks and Garfield of course win for me, Dilbert does deserve extra praise, because I never liked the source material at all, but I liked the show.
Also the theme music came from Forbidden Zone which what

If we expand into movies The full movie is actually free on Youtube, here www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRs4Y3Kzdt0Here's a great write up of it. It was a production nightmare, driving people like Hayao Miyazaki and Brad Bird from the project. film.avclub.com/the-little-nemo-movie-is-like-a-dream-scattered-stran-1798283415I loved this as a kid, but had no idea it was based on a comic strip, Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay. That pedigree is why it attracted so many big names. It is like John Carter of Mars, but for animation. (Incidentally early coverage of John Carter also had Brad Bird attached. Dodged two bullets.) If you know anything about animation history, you know Winsor McCay's name as one of the earliest pioneers of animation. Here's his famous animation of some his Little Nemo characters.

Wow, I've never so much as heard of this, much less seen it. If I remember right, it was a Saturday morning CBS cartoon, and this was well into the WB and Fox Kids domination of Saturday Mornings. Edit: It also didn’t help them that Courage the Cowardly Dog was a focal cartoon on Cartoon Network around that time.
