...in Germany (!).
I sorta like it even if it's tuneless and I can't understand German.

That's not the worst thing Alf did in Germany.
2 cats, 1 Alf... anyone?

Well, the song already starts with ALF describing that this is the Melmacian mating call so you already know what you are gonna get. And yeah, just like David Hasselhoff, ALF was also something that appears to have been far more popular in Germany than it was in the US, mostly thanks to the guy on the album backside you see in the vid: Tommi Piper, who made a career out of being the German ALF VA. How popular was ALF you ask? Well, the movie "Project: ALF" got a theatrical release here in Germany and had quite a good attendance figure. I didn't know until many years later and was really bamboozled to learn that Project: ALF was only a made-for-TV movie.

Dolls, video games, guest host appearance on the Tonight Show IIRC (this was pre-Leno also IIRC), TWO cartoon series AND a Marvel Comics run. It's just it died down quite a bit AFTER the show was over, hence the TV Movie for Project: ALF. Which also suffered from not having any member of the family from the show appear in it I think.

Have to say, after reading a bit about the production of the show...I cannot say I blame them if they slammed the door in the producer's faces when asked if they wanted to return.

ALF always kinda looked like a werewolf version of Scott Bakula in a way I find difficult to articulate.

Yeah, pretty much the entire cast hated working on teh show. Yeah... Long hours, Paul Fusco was apparently a nightmare to deal with (he demands that everyone treat ALF as if he were real), all the holes in the stage floor required for Paul to stand in to puppeteer ALF which are very easy to fall into. It sounds like it sucked to work on that show.

Did his old back up group return for it? I don't think so. Their 'Behind The Music' doc was pretty vengeful and bizarre.

A good 15 or so years ago, my wife and I overheard an ALF-centtic conversation between an American woman and her German boyfriend in a Best Buy. Guy: [picking up the ALF DVD set] Let's get this to watch. Woman: No. Guy: Why? Woman: I am NOT watching ALF! Guy: But he's eating cats! It's funny!

It took place in this theme park: www.movieparkgermany.de/enThe attraction in question was operated from 1996-2004 and it indeed featured ALF as a tour guide in a Gremlins-themed ride.
