Not even just that tho FF7 is out now and TLOU was a whole month away. If FF7 wasn't so close they probably would have pulled back too because they are having problems getting the physical copies out No way TLOU was going to be able to get it out there. Would had Digital copies sure but not everyone is able to do digital Digital is such a huge part of business now, what is the percentage of people who can't do digital? I'm going to assume it's very low. More then you would think Download speed and consistency is a big issue for people. Add on that you still have people who resell their games or want the option to Once you buy it digital that's a permanent purchase which is not for everyone

Digital is slowly becoming the preferred method. It has been my method since the end of my PS3 life cycle and I only pick up physical games on the cheap If digital only, games will store flourish. Gamestop is already on its last legs

It’s not that I can’t do digital, but I simply refuse because I like having the physical copy. I do both, whatever the best deal is......I have found that if you wait games out the Digital deals will be better, like the PS Store selling the AC Odyssey gold bundle for 20 bucks. But yea we're gonna get to a point where it's going to be walmart amazon or digital. And I won't be at all surprised if the consoles that follow these upcoming ones don't have disc drives, hell my PC doesn't have a disc drive.

I think it’s going the same way as movies are but in a much quicker rate, it could be argued. Even with some of the movies going digital only, the money isn’t quite there to, for example, have Marvel just say “Black Widow on Disney+ right now” since there’s still profitability from cinema releases still despite the fact digital outpaces DVD/Blu-Ray by a massive amount. With how digital game sales are doing the last few years and with less issues regarding that stuff (which you could argue should change because game developers need a Union right the hell now), it’s way easier to have a game released in stores and digitally and it seems like the choice is more going towards digital.

Australian here. Our internet is absolutely terrible. I'd always heard other countries were ahead of the US in internet speeds and such. Well it’s definitely not the case here when we are ranked 50 in internet speed. The US is ranked number 10. Everyone I know owns physical copies of games because it can take well over a whole day to download digitally, plus there is the collectors value. Only digital stuff I buy is through steam and the downloads and updates are very tedious. Plus with everybody at home right now, internet usage around the world is a lot higher. I imagine downloading a 50 GB game would take FOREVER.

So I saw all across Twitter today that apparently the game leaked and someone shared a gameplay video...of apparently the entire god damn game.
This title is cursed, man.

twistedvoxel.com/the-last-of-us-part-2-dev-release-game/Sounds like Neil Druckmann is saying that if the infrastructure of the PSN can change (i.e. back to normal instead of capped internet speeds thanks to Corona) then perhaps they might think about releasing the game early on digital platforms.

If you purchased from the PS Store, Sony is issuing refunds for TLOU2 due to the delay of the game

I wonder what sort of make good we'll be getting to tide us over? Demo? PS4 exclusive TLOU DLC for another game?

Well technically the make good is people getting their refund The best could hope for after that is maybe they release TLOU 1 for free to purchase for a month on all platforms or a 1-2 hour demo of TLOU 2 from the start of the game

So what you’re saying is the World was saved from another game potentially being released as an incomplete mess?
Maybe that’s not a bad thing?

Who's to say it was going to be a mess tho if it wasn't for the virus They were clearly on track to finishing this after delaying the game once already but the lack of work force has delayed them putting on the finishing touches so it is only right they delay it until they can get it the way they want it
