I don't mean the celebrity is odd, but just that them being someone's or your favorite is odd.
Found at our family's Father's Day get together, my cousin's favorite celebrity, who she is obsessed with is Gabriel Iglesias and has seen everything he ever did.. That just struck me as really, really odd for a 13 year old girl. I assume there could be any number of teenage idols I never heard of, because I'm old now, but Fluffy, for a teenage girl, really seemed odd.
So, any celebrities you were oddly obsessed with? Were you the 10 year old who knew everything The Big Bopper ever did, even though you were born in 1999?

Around 5 years ago I was working at a Thrift Store. I bought a copy of Kenny Loggins's Greatest Hits in the store and mentioned it as me and some co-workers were leaving for the day. One co-worker, an 18 or 19 year old girl fresh out of high school, mentioned that she loves Kenny Loggins. Just seems weird that any teenager in 2012 would be a big Kenny Loggins fan, though I myself was into old/"uncool" stuff when I was in high school, so whatever.

I am a HUGE Steve Buscemi fan.
Started off cause back in the 90s felt like every movie I saw he was in it. So that morphed into if you didn't see him in a film he was in a crowd scene or disguised as a tree or shrub.
My cousin's 17 year old son is obsessed with Midnight Oil... He heard a few of their songs when he was 8 or so cause of me. And has got every album of theirs he can find.

I bought a movie ticket to Gone Fishin' in theaters just because I knew who Joe Pesci was and enjoyed his work. I mean, it was a matinee, but I still contributed significantly to its overall gross. I was like 10.

maybe the choice of celebrity is not 100% odd but as a kid I was a big, big fan of Michelle Pfeiffer
which meant I owned and watched on video such films as Married To The Mob, The Russia House, Scarface, Tequila Sunrise and Sweet Liberty (and this was before the age of 10)

That makes him hip for the kids today!

A part of me became a very big fan of Michelle Pfeiffer at that time as well. Meow.

I don't know how odd it is, but my favorite celebrity is Jeremy Renner. I follow him on social media and pretty much all his posts are just talking about how much he loves being his kid's father. I root for folks like that.

My mother-in-law is huge into Matchbox 20 and Rob Thomas in particular. And it's like, yeah, they're an okay band, but I can't picture them being anyone's FAVORITE band like they are hers.

I actually went to high school with a girl who was super into Matchbox 20. It wasn’t that far removed for their peak and even then I thought it was weird. It’s like if someone’s dream car was a Toyota Corolla. Sure, I have one and it decent, but there is much better stuff out there.

I'm a big Jeff Lynne fan, both as a solo artist and his work with ELO.

Mother raised me on Spanish TV novellas so it’d surprise some Hispanic girls when I knew all the of titles and actresses and actors.
As a kid I was kind of obsessed with Kevin Smith (no relation to everyone’s favorite Kevin Smith) who played Ares on Hercules and Xena. Loved the characterization, his choices, demeanor, look all of it. To this day if I ever have a kid and it’s a boy I want to name him “Ares”. Broke my heart when Kevin tragically passed away in a fall in the early 2000s.

I’ve long felt that Tiny Tim was really underrated in his lifetime. For sure he was an oddball kind of guy, but to sing in the kind of ranges he could is actually an impressive musical talent. He could have been a superstar in opera if he had gone into that field, but instead he ended up as a novelty act.

Radio legend Fred Allen. Look him up. His show was a huuuuge influence on later televised talk shows. Unlike his long time faux rival Jack Benny his show used the now familiar monologue/sketch/guest format with a few songs included along the way. Like Carson decades later ,who named his Mighty Carson Players after Fred's Mighty Allen Players, Fred would often have common people with interesting traits as well as celebrities. Like David Letterman he would often break the 4th wall if a joke or a sketch was dying. Sadly he died in 1956 after a short but memorial run as as a panelist on "What's My Line". His influence as a humorist has largely been forgotten.

That I could never see him in a serious role. Then I saw Boardwalk Empire and thought he was brilliant. It’s such a great series and it totally changed my view of him.

Loved Boardwalk and love that thanks to it more and more people have learned that Buscemi has so much talent.
