I love everything about this PPV : The location, commentary team, and of course the matches!
Who else enjoyed this show?

First PPV I ever saw and it will always hold a place in my heart. It’s what got me totally hooked on wrestling.

Great show, and the wedding reception made it even better.

With a great atmosphere, well done matches, solid commentary, and a great angle to finish it, there's only one real question left to ask about the event: {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Don't you just love the way leather feels against your body?

As excellent as Hart/Perfect is, my fav match on the show is Virgil/Dibiase.

A PPV that is overshadowed by the 5-Man Tag main event, where pretty much everything was wrong about that whole thing. Otherwise, everything else was solid that night.

Loved it as it's pretty much the ultimate babyface show back when babyfaces were cool. Bret wins the IC title and pretty much sends Mr. Perfect into semi retirement, Boss Man sends Mountie to jail, Virgil sticks it to the man, LOD win the tag titles, Hogan and Warrior win the Match Made in Hell while Sid makes sure Justice was served, and Macho Man and Elizabeth get married (on PPV it at least had a happy ending as the Jake and Undertaker crashing the wedding reception didn't until the following week of syndicated TV).
Only nitpicks I have was the main event was kind of flat as the Triangle Terror were cold as main event heels with the Gulf War being over. Also couldn't they have got someone bigger to be the guy was going to have his way with the Mountie? Kind of took away the effect of Mountie being intimidated (and then hysterical after the implication of rape with the "don't you love the way leather feels against your body" line) by the guy when he was clearly taller then the guy by several inches. If anything Mountie would've been the Big Stan of that cell.

One of two SummerSlams that fell on my birthday, although I didn’t start following wrestling until the next year. My first time watching the show was on Coliseum Video.
This sounds completely ridiculous now but, having no knowledge of the storylines of the time, I thought Randy Savage and Elizabeth really did get married that night. I had no idea that they were a real-life couple long before that, and the Match Made in Heaven was an angle. I suppose what happened at the reception should have tipped me off but, whatever.
I would love to know why the WWE Network version of the show replaces “Together” with a different song. It can’t be for legal reasons considering that the original song was written and published in-house, and was part of the three-disc Anthology collection. Not to mention that you can find it on WWE’s YouTube channel.
It’s amazing what you notice when you go back and watch a show years later. Like when Bret set Mr. Perfect up for a suplex and Gorilla Monsoon said “suplex city, coming up!”
What was that, Gorilla? Did you say ... SUPLEX CITY?

Always liked it as a kid. Had it taped off the PPV, lent it to a guy my dad worked with. He taped over it.
Watched it again and still liked it but found the 6 man tag too long. The Mountie stuff was still good but not the height of all comedy like it was when I was 8.

I found Roddy Piper just awful on commentary so hearing him kind of ruined things for me. I also never cared much for the Summer Slam shows as they didn't feature everyone on the roster like a Survivor Series or Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania where they would cram everyone on the card. Although now as an adult I see less could sometimes be better.
One thing I really liked about this show is seeing some of the entrances since Coliseum Video had such a long history of cutting out entrances. It was nice seeing the opening match get an entrance (even with the jobber entrance the heel team got) and getting to see Greg Valentine come out to his theme.
It's sad this is Andre's last major show with WWF. I wish he had been able to just stay on with WWF until the end. I can't recall if he had the crutches for the Royal Albert Hall show but if he did, fans had to realize there was something wrong with him non-kayfabe as the Earthquake injury couldn't take five months to heal and he was STILL involved with feuding with Earthquake at that show.

1991 was my first full year as a wrestling fan, and when I look back at all the tapes my family would make of the PPVs we'd order, SummerSlam '91 was probably the one I re-watched the most, likely because it really is a great babyface show.

To me a great wrestling show has something for everyone. This one had it.. great wrestling, lots of storylines, gimmick matches, drama, comedy, great commentary, even a wedding... A diehard fan, acasual fan or a newcomer is going to take something from this show.

the opener of Bulldog, Steamboat and Von Eric vs Power and Glory and the warlord is one of my favs, I think this is one of the first WWF/E events I ever saw after just being able to watch superstars.

Roddy Piper is horrendous on commentary but I really enjoyed the show away from that.
The main event seemed about as much a foregone conclusion as any PPV main event to that point. Two guys Hogan has beaten and some guys grandpa.
The Hogan v Slaughter mania match was a month and a half too late. Doing his type of angle in August was stupid

Meh. I guess I'll be the malcontent. The show had a couple of gems, but a wrestling wedding ceremony without someone running in to sabotage it is just ... a wedding ceremony. I don't care if it's Savage and Elizabeth. It's insanely boring. That and the terrible main event = I always shut the show off after the IRS-Valentine match.
Speaking of which ... IRS-Valentine and Disasters-Bushwhackers are matches that belonged on Superstars, not a PPV.
Also, not sure if this belongs in the "so bad" or the "so bad it's good" category, but Lord Alfred's train-wreck interview with a confused Stu Hart deserves a mention.
