I think this is the show that set the course of Bret's impressive singles career over the next few years. Some may suggest it was the Piper match but with Piper not really being a full timer, the win didn't impress me as much as the Perfect win. Despite the Beefcake and Tornado losses on PPV, Perfect had an impressive run over the previous two years. For the most part, Perfect always seemed to find a way to win so I was sure Bret would just lose to him. Bret believed so much in the shows and the storylines and the victories that it made me as a viewer believe in it too. I was only two at the time so obviously I can't remember but I bet Bret beating Perfect was looked at as a pretty big upset by most fans at the time. Perfect had been pushed strong since he came in three years before and was a upper card player since his feud with Hogan in late 89/early 90 while Bret for the most part had been a tag guy and really hadn't beat anyone of note in singles during his entire time in the company. I guess the biggest name opponent he beat at that point was the Barbarian who was jobbing to everyone around that time including washed up Greg Valentine so that wasn't really impressive. In hindsight it really isn't a big deal as Bret ended up going on to be so successful and we no know that Perfect was hurt and needed time off but at the time it was probably a surprising result.

The jailhouse match was superbly booked. The way the Mountie sold the aftermath was incredible.

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

One of my favourite PPVs ever.
The Semi Main Event should've been Warrior/Hogan vs Taker/Roberts instead of Triangle Of Terror.

I didn't love it as much on a recent watch, but this was a favorite of mine as a kid. My local video store had three tapes I rented a ton. It was SummerSlam 91, Royal Rumble 92, and Survivor Series 92. In fact, I rented Rumble 92 so much that the owner made me my own copy.
