Starts at the 3:00 mark, she explains how she wanted to come back to fight for the women's tag titles, but after getting medically checked was discovered to have yet another herniated disk in her spine and a cyst on her brain.
As much grief as we give Misawa's protege, it's sad when any wrestler is unable to go out on their own terms.

JFC, a brain cyst? That does not sound fun to deal with, needless to say.

Wow, I'm not a doctor but the idea of a brain cyst sounds pretty damned serious...
Also really in hindsight I do wonder how anyone thought the torture rack backbreaker was a good idea for a finisher.

I'm glad a check revealed these problems, and hope she can have a good quality of life in retirement.
I wasn't a fan of her loooooong title reign just to spite AJ Lee that they had like no material for Nikki during, but otherwise, she got pretty good near the end. I just hope she didn't get so busted up just to make that happen.

Her forearm was f***ing awesome, why that wasn't her main finisher I'll never know. Also, this was a really fun match:

Also really in hindsight I do wonder how anyone thought the torture rack backbreaker was a good idea for a finisher. It's almost like that damn diving headbutt. You almost didn't need to see what would happen to the likes of Chris Benoit, Dynamite Kid, Bam Bam Bigelow & Daniel Bryan to know that wouldn't be the smartest thing to do repeatedly to a head.

I guess it's basically the same as what Daniel temporarily retired from. I wonder how Brie feels, her sister and husband affected by the same thing like that.

I was never really a fan, but I never like to see someone forced out of the ring due to injury.

Honestly, I was becoming a fan of hers in the later years of her career. Yeah the storylines would mostly be ass, but she was focused on becoming better in the ring and it showed. Her moves became a lot more crisp and had a believable finish. Sucks that she is forced to step away, the divisions could use more credible bodies (heh). My hats off Nikkisawa, may your forearm be always feared.

I never considered her a favorite or anything, but Hat Boobs really did turn into a pretty damn decent wrestler so I never had a problem with her. She was probably unfairly underrated by a lot of people because of how they felt about Brie as a performer.

If you could ever use the term 'solid hand' to describe anyone it would have been Nikki. Competent wrestler who wasn't dangerous to work with, could garner some good heat, and make anyone look good. She was the antithesis to what the Women's Revolution stood for and could have had a really great heel run but she was already starting to wind down at that point.

A brain cyst?
Damn, I hope that's treatable.

I mean at least in theory you can catch yourself like a regular splash in the diving headbutt... There's no way around like 100 pounds dropping on your neck at least like 6 times a week... not to mention what it must have been doing to her knees.

I hated The Bellas until around 2014-2015 and that’s when they finally got into their stride after being extremely bland and non descript Total Divas actually did them wonders because you can finally differentiate the two personalities. I agree she eventually become a solid hand in the ring.

I just remember she was back just a few weeks after neck surgery and she was in a 6 pack challenge for the SDL women’s championship and she took a 5 woman tower of doom spot where it was clear she was not selling she was hurt. From that point she seemed on a mission to hurt herself to prove she was a worker like the nxt girls and to prove she didn’t just have that spot because of Cena. This is why I wish the company actually cared about the talent instead of just letting them kill themselves and work themselves till they are no longer useful and then put yourself over for then telling them to retire.Nikki Bella just weeks post neck surgery shouldn’t be taking a tower of doom power bomb spot there should be someone in charge that rejects that spot instantly.
I’ve always heard she was hyper aware of the criticism she gets online and was always trying to prove she didn’t deserve the flak she got and what’s sad is she was actually the best female wrestler they had from 2014 thru early 2017 and it didn’t matter people still shit on her.I remember her having one of the only good Paige main roster matches I ever saw on Main Event,She got the 1st good match out of Carmella when Carmella got called up and she had heated brawls & really good matches with Nattie who never has either on the main roster.
