I’m fighting a border line virus in my throat and right ear, so I will be home sick until Monday. Figured if I’m going to be flat on my back on meds, I might as well entertain myself with some movies. So I turn to you, the FAN forum, to help me choose.
And yes, we would watch them ALL if we pick a series.
Where I’m currently leaning:
- Back to the Future. I haven’t seen the series since maybe VHS release for II. Haven’t watched III at all since an airline flight from Chicago. Figured time to scratch the itch.
- Planet of the Apes. The classic Ape movies, less the television series and cartoon. I’ve only seen the first all the way through and that was YEARS ago. Figured time to check out a classic.
- MCU. Yeah, I know, I just did the Marathon, but with Endgame getting new stuff and Spider-Man coming, plus having Captain Marvel on blu-ray, why not?
Any thoughts or own suggestions to help me get over this hump and take my mind off being sick and being depressed about it?

Re-watch a movie you loved when you were a kid but haven't seen since then.

Pick a bunch of 80s sword'n'sorcery movies... Conan, Sword and The Sorcerer, Krull, Gor, Sorceress, Beastmaster, Masters of the Universe, etc. Never fails to pick me up from a bad mood.

You get your Crowe Crowe'ing, your Devito Devito'ing, your Spacey.. Well, nevermind, but he is awesome in it.

Anything by screenwriter Max Landis. Ironically, Twilight Zone: The Movie is on my to get list on Amazon as well as 80s Twilight Zone. Guess I’m a hypocrite, but Max should thank his stars he’s not young and Vietnamese or his dad would have dropped a helicopter on him already.

Oh man, if not for Titanic, that would have been my favorite movie from 1997. Seriously, the cast and script is SO good and I haven’t seen it since theaters. That was the movie that made me a Spacey fan... and then he ruined it. And do NOT sell Guy Pierce or James Cromwell short, they’re great too. But Gloria Stuart was better than Kim Basinger IMHO.

I bought the blu-ray when it first came out, but a parental unit made me return it when they saw the price. Haven’t seen it in forever. Shame Sam Gamgee and Thanos were never seen again. On the list!

Exley's my dude. I don't like Basinger's character at all; she sounds so unnatural and her lines are cringy. Still one of my favorite movies though. Have ya a valediction, boyo?

Anything by screenwriter Max Landis. If you’re interested in another loser filmmaker but it’s actually a good movie, I always thought Bowfinger was underrated. Steve Martin is trying to trick Eddie Murphy into being in his low budget monster movies, and it’s incredible.

Couldn’t say it at the time because Alec would come and kick your ass. But yeah, overrated with a capital O. But my two favorite moments was the reveal with Spacey (I remember my audience audibly GASPING when it happened) and the smug “Got you, you bastards” look on Guy Pierce’s face in the interrogation room at the end. Great great movie. Want to have real fun? Double bill LA Confidential and L.A. Noire. Good times.

Dave is pretty funny if you want to watch a comedy. Oh, I haven’t seen Dave in forever! Would usually double bill with The American President. Shame movies like this do not get made anymore.
