In my opinion the greatest Wrestlemania feud there was.
My opinions:
Wrestlemania 15:
Very underrated, overshadowed by the awesome Backlash match a month later along with the other two Wrestlemania matches. Feels like peak crazy 1999 Attitude, with run ins and brawling all over the place. I love the buildup with Corporate Rock being an awesome heel champ and Austin coming out with the beer truck. Also infamous for being the time Stone Cold forgot his vest and came out with his T shirt. All around a very fun time that I love to go back and watch.
Wrestlemania 17:
I feel like this one will probably take the cake. The absolute apex of this era, the very height of WWF popularity and mainstream recognition that they will probably never fully regain. Two guys at their very best, Rock now reaching the same icon status as Austin. The super-hype My Way video and that sit down interview with JR. Just all around hot crowd, amazing commentary from Ross and Heyman, and the best action WWF could offer at the time.
The only downfall from this match is the Austin heel turn. Amazingly done, but completely drained alot of interest WWF had at the time, and plus no one wanted to boo Stone Cold. He was still insanely loved, and really should have called the audible to kick McMahon in the gut and do the Stunner.
I love the story, though, of Austin being so desperate to beat Rock and regain the title that he will go to any lengths necessary. He even foreshadows it in the sit-down interview. "I need to beat you Rock."
Wrestlemania 19:
Not much to say, just two legends having one final go around and Rocky finally getting the win. Loved Rock heeling it up, and the exchange of finishers.
It's a good match, but it's also extremely bittersweet for me to revisit. Stone Cold is my all time favorite, and when he comes down the ramp you can tell how different his demeanor is, because he knew it was One More Round. This match feels like one final goodbye to the previous era. Hell, this whole PPV feels like that when you look at the matches.
Also, can I just say how classy Rocky is. When Austin makes his entrance, Rock leaves the ring to give him that moment. Then at the end thanks Austin and leaves and let's him have his send-off.
For me personally, even though it's seen by most as being the worst of the three, I have to go with Wrestlemania 15. The other two are better matches, but this one is such a feel-good match that always makes me smile. The other two kinda remind me of my childhood being gone, with Austin's heel turn and then his retirement.
