Well, I'd be annoyed, but I can't critique his acting talent when 2000s Keanu was the previous lead.

Sure, why not.
Give us a more satisfying end this time.

I said it in another thread and I'll say it here, I would much rather see someone else take a crack at the Matrix franchise then the Wachowski's. They had their chance and they blew it big time, and nothing they've done since has demonstrated to me that they've learned their lesson or deserve another shot. At least Shyamalan had The Visit and Split get decent critical praise before they let him run wild with another pet project again.

The plot centers around a man who discovers that Kneelift was really Max Landis. Which leads to other shocking revelations about what he thought was reality.

I've only actually seen him in Black Panther but he was by far the best part of that.
Though I really just can't see this amounting to anything anyone really cares about. Interest in the franchise cratered after Reloaded and I really haven't seen much of any evidence that people are clamoring for its grand return.

I think if they can make it different enough (same universe, totally different locations and situations), then it may be alright. Alright doesn't really sell tickets, though. Just ask that Blade Runner sequel.

I dig Michael B. Jordan a lot, and I mean, obviously, Black Panther and the two Creed movies were good career moves for him. I am willing to give it a shot.
That, and, 2 and especially 3 were such steps down from the first one, what are they going to do, sully the franchise for me?

To me it's a lot like Star Wars no matter how good or bad they are... they ain't ruining the franchise more than the Holiday Special or Prequels already did. (Do not turn this into a discussion about the Disney films.)

Honestly, reboots/sequels don’t bother me in the slightest anymore and I’d probably gladly see a new Matrix movie, but I don’t know what story they could tell outside of a reboot.

what is there really to tell in the story though?
end of the third film. free humanity was nearly wiped out, the machines agreed to let anyone who wanted out of the matrix go and the humans would stop annoying them with raids.

Do a prequel showing the initial conflict between man and machines, ending with the darkening of the skies, the creation of the Matrix 1.0 and the emergence of the first One.

There’s so much you could do with a Matrix Sequel or complete reboot.
..I’d prefer a new director and vision...
But I’ll take it. And I likes MBJ. It’s got a high chance to suck. But f*** it. Bring it.

I appreciate the franchise for what it is, but the Wachowskis are some of the most insultingly pretentious filmmakers in the business. Sense8 was another series they had a hand in that I enjoyed to an extent, but the further it went along (just like The Matrix) the more convoluted and heavy-handed it became. If they stuck to the simple skeleton basics, their stuff would be fine.

As I alluded to in a current Cardi B. thread: I am so out of touch that I thought this was about the basketball player trying to do movies again.

That Michael Jordan already made one of the greatest movies in cinema history in Space Jam. For him to try to duplicate that success would be a fool's quest.

I like the Wachowskis, but Bound and the first Matrix are really the only good movies they've made (though they did write V For Vendetta, which was great). They're full of good ideas, but they really aren't adept at converting those ideas into compelling stories.
