One of the most frustrating things about this is that it seemed like this "animation age ghetto" was finally starting to die... And then Teen Titans Go happened and now we're back to square one. I wouldn't really agree with that, quality animation is being made and it is being taken a bit more seriously in certain circles. There is some definite turnover going on right now though. Star VS ended, Gumball ended, MLP is ending, stuff like Regular Show and Adventure Time has been over, Steven Universe is still going but has lost a ton of momentum, OK KO looks like the third season might be the last one... There's stuff on the horizon like Villainous and Infinity Train that looks promising but at least from where I'm sitting the only cartoons that are good and are safe for the moment are She-Ra and Loud House, and really I kind of wonder how long Loud House can be good for given how much Nick tends to push for its hit shows to just keep churning out episodes with little regard for quality. Oops. Sorry, I meant "animation age ghetto mentality". There are good cartoons out there no doubt. You just gotta look harder.

You got older. I'm sorry, it's fine to still love cartoons, I do, I watch a ton of them, but not cartoons aimed at 8 year olds. There's no quality dip, you're just old. This mentality sucks, I'm sorry, but saying it as matter of factly as you do pisses me off. Fair enough if that's how you see it. But a lot of Cartoons these days aren't just aimed at kids, a lot of Cartoons are made with heart and from people who want to reach to a broader audience and have. Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Loud House, We Bare Bears, Gumball, Star Vs, Gravity Falls, Regular Show, MLP: FIM the list goes on and on. This mindset needs to die, animation isn't just for kids and frankly I think it's insulting when kids get drug into this as a derogatory term, "Oh it's just a kids show, you got old that's why things suck", nah dude, Cartoons can suck or they can have good quality to them like any other TV show that exists and tries to appeal to wide demos, it's just like any other piece of media, it's not devoid of criticism, and can be as widely enjoyed as anything else. Animation can capture people as emotionally as anything else, no matter how old you are. And no matter what the Cartoon may be. And if you're gonna continue thinking like that, well your loss, a ton of great shows out there, and I'm gonna keep enjoying them like I have been my whole life with no problems. Hell, the kids show we liked as kids weren't really meant for kids You can take it back all the way from the Flintstones to shows like Rockos Modern Life, Animaniacs etc... You can appreciate the shows in a difference sense as you get older as compared to when you was a get. It doesn't have to be squarely for kids unless you're talking strictly toddler shows like a Barney, Dragon Tales etc.

It doesn't have to be squarely for kids unless you're talking strictly toddler shows like a Barney, Dragon Tales etc. Given the option, my daughter would much rather watch Tiny Toon Adventures or Animaniacs over any CN or Nick show on air right now. I never forced her hand, just introduced them to her via Netflix and she gravitated towards them naturally because of their old fashioned WB slapstick. The heart wants what it wants! *** As for kids shows not appealing to adults, that's purely up to the viewer what they watch with their kids or use it as a babysitter. No joke, raising my oldest back when it was on air, I had a soft spot for Lazy Town because few shows looked or sounded as good as it did back then (the songs were and still are catchy and fun). There's always room for the toddler-level shows, but I find today's kid shows plays too much into the short attention spans kids apparently have. Each 'episode' of a show is like 12 minutes tops, and rush through with no real storytelling or real lessons learned since everything hard resets in the next episode. It became more YouTube-esque, and not in a good way.
