I remember coming home from work and seeing the news on the board I was a part of at the time (I wasn't over here just yet).
Read a lot of the speculation, even the possibility that it was a work, all the way up to showtime.
I freely admit I cried for a good chunk of that night and that show, and I recall the tone shift starting with Regal's promo.
It haunted me for a bit after that. I keep wanting to discuss the mental health side of it all but it always turns into a thread-closing brawl.

Man, when you realize how long it has been, it really puts things into perspective. Right now, Daniel Benoit could be performing in NXT and people would be wondering if perhaps he was being pushed too soon because his father was one of the head coaches.

It feels like yesterday.
I remember being so puzzled when this came out. I couldn’t believe this guy I’ve been watching for years was capable of doing that. It feels so surreal and eerie.
The fact that we’ll know how or why it happened annoys me. Was it an argument? Did Benoit kill Nancy by accident? My first thought was he found the bodies and hung himself. If all three were going to die, I wish that was the case.

I was here on the boards that night watching the show. I remember I had just finished my first year of college and was home at my parents house. I turned on the show for a minute to see how they followed up the limo explosion stuff and immediately heard the music of a memorial but assumed it was just for Vince and was in the other room. Then I came back in and saw it was for Benoit and was speechless. I immediately grabbed my computer and opened this site. A lot of mourning and sadness but right before Raw went off the air everything started coming out and it got pretty emotional and tense in the forums. I remember just feeling eerie and a little anxious, not a pleasant feeling, and having a real hard time sleeping that night.

I think I was browsing a wrestling news site just before RAW started when I found out. I was shocked and then watched the tribute with a few drinks a shed a few tears. Next day I found out and the rest of the week I was watching Fox news as they were talking about it nonstop even my non wrestling friends had text me about it. I was a big fan so it was surreal.

If you haven’t listened yet find Jerichos interview with Nancy’s sister

I remember reading this board in the midst of the tribute show on RAW, when the news broke that it had been ruled a double murder/suicide. Man, you could feel the air go right out the room. Yeah I remember seeing the ugly side of fandom those next few days where people would say no way Benoit would do that it had to be Nancy, or Kevin Sullivan was involved. I also remember a few people saying "I could see Triple H do something like this but not Benoit" I get sock and disbelief make you want to believe the opposite but things got ugly. The time also shed a lot of light on who Benoit was outside of the ring and I think that deflated more people as Benoit wasnt always the nicest guy. Which I think deflated people more learning that he was a bully on the level of JBL or Bubba Dudley. Now some positive change did come from tragedy. Wrestlers finally stopped with steroids and along with that stopped with rushing back from injuries. For as broken as the wellness policy can be with punishments it cleaned up the pill use as well

I was still in the Philippines that time, it was already a Tuesday there when I heard it. On a related note since his dad is brought up, could David Benoit still have a chance in pro wrestling in spite of what happened?

Does make you wonder, but if he does it won't be under his real name. The name Benoit in wrestling is tainted like the name Hitler.

I'll remember Regal's 'tribute' as long as I live, at that point I know that something was really wrong as (I believe) he didn't even mention Benoit as a person, just him in the ring.
I'm guessing the truth was known by that point.

Chris apparently tied up Nancy's hands and feet according to this press conference by the police. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVqcw8Ok2sk

It was devastating for me when I found out the truth at the time, as he was one of my favorites up until then. Regal's studio speech on the Benoit Tribute Raw was telling about what happened from what I recall. I was still in the Philippines that time, it was already a Tuesday there when I heard it. On a related note since his dad is brought up, could David Benoit still have a chance in pro wrestling in spite of what happened? He'd have to wrestle under a mask and use a gimmick name to escape the link to his father, I would think.

I was lurking here after the news came out. My mind was either robbery/outside murderer or poisoning. I forget what was said, but one poster quoted another saying, “You don’t think Chris did this do you?” My heart sank, and sure enough as RAW went in, things became more apparent. Very eerie viewing experience.

I was at college and a girl who knew I liked wrestling came running up and asked me if I'd heard. I remember skipping class to sit on the library computers with her and another lad we knew, reading all the details.

The year after this George Carlin died on June 22.......June is not a good month. Late spring/early summertime is rough time for wrestling fans, and I'd imagine lots of wrestlers in general. Rude passed in April, Owen in May, and the Benoit weekend in June.. very depressing thing to be a fan of at times. When I get home I'm gonna expand on my feelings and thoughts in this thread, but for now I really wanna say, I hope David Benoit succeeds at being wrestler, if that's what he's pursuing. He sounds like a nice guy who's been given the bad end of the stick, and he doesn't deserve to be passed over on chances because of what Chris did. I can, however, see promoters wanting him to use a different name. I think it'd be nice to kind of see someone use the Benoit name in a positive manner so maybe people can move on from the bad feeling people get from it, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

Second worst day ever in wrestling, behind Owen's death.

I got off a plane to visit my friend and found out when I landed. We spent the whole day talking/reading about it. It was so shocking and still is. Weirdly, it seems like a long time ago and also like it just happened.

If I were a booker, I simply wouldn't be able to trust the audience as a whole to not be complete and utter dicks.
