PG was playing like an MVP in OKC for the 2 years he was there He's playing like shit in the playoffs and needs to correct that No doubt, he was very good for OKC, but that was A LOT to give up for him. The expectations for him changed when that trade happened. He still has time to turn it around, but not a good start so far. If i'm Kawhi i'm sitting him down like get your shit together

Clippers Get: Paul George Thunder Get: Danilo Gallinari, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a 2021 1st round draft pick, a 2022 1st round draft pick, a 2023 1st round draft pick, a 2023 1st round draft pick, a 2024 1st round draft pick, a 2025 1st round draft pick and a 2026 1st round draft pick. (2021 first-round pick is MIA's unprotected pick.) (2023 first-round pick is MIA's pick, top-14 protected.) (Right to swap with LAC.) (Right to swap with LAC.) I mean, that trade got them Kawhi Leonard, so you do that every time for a chance at a top 3 player in the game, but with PG's injury history and the way he's played in the playoffs, that's looking pretty bleak right now. Even before PG was in a slump, it was a lot to give up. The most ever. It was always a trade that one team won in the short term and another won heavily in the long-term. SGA has taken a step further than expected as well. People didn't think he'd be this good for another year or two.

Yea, this trade long term was always going to play better for OKC Clippers basically bet it all on a championship for the next 2-3 years. If it doesn't happen, it is a massive failure. They wouldn't make that move unless Kawhi was coming

So the point is that both the Lakers and Clippers gave up their future in order to win now and the damage done to their future might be brutal if neither of them ends up with the title, right?

If neither team wins a ring in the next few years, it will no doubt put a stop on teams mortgaging their future at least for right now

If they get one, then I'm sure they'll be fine with the draft pick hit they take for the first half of this decade. If they don't get one, then it's going to be a long decade for them. There is a 2nd LA team, so Kawhi could easily dip again after next season if he wanted to and still be in LA. The Clippers have to win either this title or next year's. Then again, Kawhi has proven he'll leave a team that just won a title, so maybe he'll stay with LAC regardless with the super max.

Even if they don't win the title the next 2-3 years you have a top 10 player AD for possibly the next decadeish who should keep them a playoff team unless he gets screwed by injuries. Meanwhile Kawhi can and likely will opt out if George continues to underperform. Only thing you can look back on and say was a mistake by the Lakers is overvaluing Kuzma as an asset.

Both LA teams mortaged their short term futures to win here and now.....Lakers did it mostly because they know Lebron is on a timer so you know why they did it and to get a top 3 player in the entire NBA.
Clippers did it...because (toru yano shrug) they likely will never have a better chance atleast anytime in the foreseeable future.
What has been evident with the clippers IMO is and this has been all season is they bought into their own hype..oh this is Kawhi town , the new balance commercial etc...it was Clippers are the favs , they are the team to beat....and then they cockblocked Lakers during the trade deadline and that Clipper talk got more obsurd and then u got the guy who is suppose to be leading this team taking breaks....basically building absoloute no team chemistry and the rest of the team pretty much being all well....if he does it why should we be busting our asses for him.
And now it is biting them in the ass at the hands of a Dallas team who is the complete opposite...that has busted their ass all season and Luka and Porzingis have developed superb chemistry.

The AD trade completely changed what the ask was for a superstar in the NBA. GMs looking to buy must have been pissed.

Ehh, AD has shown when he was on his own he couldn't get it done and this Lakers team will have troubles when it is just him It is more so how long LeBron can hold at his level of play and as said if AD can stay healthy

I wish I lived in a world where the Pistons drafted Donovan Mitchell instead of Luke Kennard.

Utah is peaking at the right time
Paul George is looking like one of the worst players on the court in the playoffs. He's playing no offense and no defense.
East is pretty much a cakewalk with 2 sweeps and the other 2 series aren't competitive. Miami should wrap up Indy and Giannis is having his way with Orlando despite Middleton being almost if not worse then Paul George

I thought teams weren't allowed to trade consecutive 1st round picks like that? There is a loophole they was able go through Every other year the Thunder picks the best available pick between them and the Clippers so the Clippers aren't technically giving up a pick every year As it stands (not including 2nd round picks): 2021: OKC 1st round pick and Miami first round pick 2022: OKC (Protected pick) and Clippers pick 2023: Better pick between Clippers and OKC, Miami first round pick (lottery protected) 2024: OKC pick, Clippers pick 2025: Better pick between Clippers and OKC 2026: OKC pick, Clippers pick
