Congrats to Boston, always knew they were a bad matchup for us and dreaded facing them. Turns out my dread was real and the Raptors are out.

Yeah,Raptors are missing "that guy" like they had in Kawhi. Celtics have two emerging superstars and they don't have the deficit at center they sometimes get stuck with, Was a good series, would have been better with a crowd.

Oh well, we still have last year to fondly remember and unlike some teams whose fans think it is there birthrite to be champions, I'm not greedy and I'll still enjoy last year. Plus we don't have to deal with the bloody asterisk that whoever wins this year will have to deal with because of 2020.

Boston/Miami is an interesting defensive match-up. It's odd that in the age of offense first, last, and sometimes only that 3 of the 4 teams left standing, if the Clippers finish out of course, are teams who play very good team defense. Marcus Smart has also showed out these playoffs. He's like a rich man's Pat Bev.

They fought hard all the way to the end. This easily could have gone the other way. They made big plays all series. They were worthy champions. Right now this is the biggest win of the Brad Stevens era. This series was a rock fight and the Celtics had to learn what it takes to win these games. Kemba coming through after struggling all game. Grant Williams and Time Lord giving great effort off the bench. Tatum with big shots and a huge rebound. And Marcus Smart doing Marcus Smart things. Another tough opponent waits in Miami. But the Celtics will be ready. Plus we don't have to deal with the bloody asterisk that whoever wins this year will have to deal with because of 2020. The only team that will get an asterisk is the Lakers. Because f**k the Lakers.

Well, that sucked.
Full credit to the Celtics, but the number of unforced errors and turnovers the Raptors made was just so unlike them and it handed the game to Boston.
Look no further than that sequence at the end of the game for the epitome of the Raptors tonight. Celtics up two in the final minute and Williams bricks both of his free-throws and what should be a huge momentum shift for the Raptors is immediately negated when Powell fouls Tatum and puts Boston right back at the line. Just inexcusable shit from the Raptors.
But again, hats off to Boston. Jayson Tatum is only going to get better and he already looks like a star. Marcus Smart is everywhere and heβs just - pardon the pun - an incredibly smart player who almost always makes the right decision on both sides of the ball with an outstanding work ethic.

Oh, one other thing: That game was shockingly well officiated.
Congrats to Scott Foster for not making himself a talking point like he usually does.

When we played them, we only beat them by like 4 points and they have gotten quite better since then....as Milwaukee learned the hard way when the Heat had their way with them. As far as the asterisk goes, I mean that in the way this season didnt go as normal NBA seasons do and quite like that shortened NBA season that the Spurs won, there is always going to be an asterisk on this season. However, unlike a shortened season due to a lockout, this one should be a bit more forgivable to whoever wins due to having a once in a lifetime freaking pandemic change so much.

No asterisk this season, stop that BS I think you can even argue that winning this season is even tougher than normal, all things considered. Yes, travel is eliminated, but think of everything else that has changed.

If you want, maybe a footnote number mentioning that.

Super asterisk of a season: a never before play-in game, no travel between games, single site location, not a full and complete regular season, no discernible homecourt advantage for teams that earned it in the regular season. All of this while a worldwide pandemic is going on and other sports are canceling/adjusting their seasons. Come on now. Be realistic.
I almost forgot that the playoffs were almost completely derailed and the Western Conference got an inadvertent rest advantage as a result.

Can we be honest about the Rockets for a minute? Any team that seriously attempts more 3s than 2s has absolutely zero chance of ever winning anything. That's just so extreme and loony that any coach that does it really shouldn't have a job. It really is just something D'Antoni has done in Houston too. I don't recall his Suns teams being so wildly 3 happy (the 2005 Suns for instance took 4992 2s and 2026 3s). It doesn't even make logical sense to do it really. The Rockets shot 55.7% from 2 this season and only 34.5% from 3, so it stands to reason if they are that good of a 2 pt. shooting team then why not do more of that, less of the 3, and score more overall? They already scored almost 118 a game, so imagine if they actually took higher percentage shots.
As far as this Clippers/Nuggets series goes I don't think the Clippers are out of the woods yet. Denver already came back from 3-1 down vs. Utah and that game the other night may well prove to be a momentum shift. It would be garbage though. L.A. vs. L.A. is the series everyone wants to see. If the Nuggets somehow come back we're just looking at another 5 game series for the Lakers.

As always, the Rockets can go suck eggs. Especially satisfying because they had two of my most despised players together this year with Hardbrook.
DβAntoni ball is also trash basketball.
Now I root for whoever is playing the Lakers.
