Cant think of a better way to have a guy get over a power guy than having him slam Yokozuna right out the gates.

Partially it was, wasn't it? I remember commentary with Prefect or King saying, "yeah well, he's been slammed before" with Vince retorting with, "that was over a 100 pounds ago, Yokozuna has never been this big before!"

I don’t think so. Luger’s stock had fallen by this point, while Ahmed was being pushed to greatness. It was just them trying to build a new superstar, nothing more than that.

If Ahmed were five or ten years younger, he would have been a megastar, even with his sloppiness. He had the it factor in the same way Warrior did, unfortunately his age led to him getting hurt and struggling to adapt so he struggled after his initial push.

He had the it factor in the same way Warrior did, unfortunately his age led to him getting hurt and struggling to adapt so he struggled after his initial push. I know, Ahmed was on fire for months. Then when Faarooq came in and they paired those two together for probably no good reason other than probably someone in "creative" only seeing their race, it was all downhill from there for Ahmed. I know Ron Simmons's style made things look "real" but even as a kid when he kicked Ahmed I thought "it isn't supposed to be this real." Maybe Ahmed was predestined to get hurt and just kind of give up the next year but I'm sure based on his look and original few months, Vince McMahon figured he would be this mega star. I'm sure a real quality athlete with the "It" factors of athleticism and charisma, like Mr. Perfect (commentator for two of Ahmed's PPVs) knew Ahmed was just going to be awful.
