Five Star Cody does it again. A time limit draw is inspired.

Darby Allin went from "Who is this guy?" to "Holy crap, when is this guy showing back up?" so, I'll say the Cody match, nonsense chair shot afterwards non-regarded.

Cody vs Darby. 2nd straight PPV Cody was in a match that told a great story.

When the hell did Cody get so good at storytelling?

Cody/Darby. Convoluted flipfests and Deathmatches aren't my cup of tea, though they were undoubtedly successes. I thought the 4 way would steal the show; it was pretty good, but nah, not even close.

It's close between the main event and Cody / Darby but I'm going with the latter.

Cody vs Darby for me...I truly think that Cody has developed into the best ring psychologist in wrestling today. He’s come a LONG way as an in-ring performer.

When the hell did Cody get so good at storytelling? He's always been. Look at how much he put into all of his post-Legacy gimmicks. Dashing Cody Rhodes. Disfigured Cody Rhodes. The Mustache. The Brotherhood. Stardust (especially Stardust, dude flat out changed his style in one week). Team Kenny and Team Cody. He's always put everything into telling stories, but now it seems to really be clicking as far as in ring action goes.

In-Ring psychology and storytelling is another thing. I definitely didn't expect Cody to be the best in-ring performer of AEW

It's why I'd probably say his best WWE matches were fighting for his job against Orton and the Shield. They gave him a story to sink his teeth into.

No I know his character work has always been top of the line but I mean in-ring psychology and storytelling between the ropes. Unless I've absolutely been sleeping on Cody, which is possible, this recent run of telling such a captivating story in a match is new for him.

When the hell did Cody get so good at storytelling? The moment he left ROH? Im now believing ROH road agents are probably some of the worst in the business.

The big thing about Five Star Cody, is that his particular style focuses on character a lot in the ring, and everywhere he has worked with reach has had an in-house style he has adapted to and worked in. Here he is able to write his love letters to wrestling styles lost to the sands of McMahon and not have to fit what an office thinks should be the house style, since he is part of the group defining it.

I think he has always had it in him but I have also been working under a couple theories with Cody... 1)When he first went to the indies and had his dream list of matches... they weren't good. Not bad but nothing to write home about. I think after that most just wrote Cody off and felt he was just milking the Elite connection. 2) In an age where big time matches use big move after big move... Cody's style actually sticks out and feels refreshing. I also have thought since the road to double or nothing videos started that Cody just got IT when it came to telling a story.

Cody/Darby although I also really enjoyed Moxley/Janela and the three way women's match.

I went into this not knowing who Darby Allin was and left being very interested in what he does next, so that alone makes that the match of the night for me. Another solid entry into Cody's oeuvre as well. I love seeing him truly come into his own as a performer.

i'm going Six-Man Tag. it was in keeping with the spirit of the weekend and built off of "Double or Nothing"
Cody/Darby loses points because of the stupid back bump followed by the unprotected chair shot, and the fact it was obvious they were going for a time limit draw. i could be mistaken, but i don't recall Justin Roberts calling out the ongoing elapsed time for the other match.
Moxley/Janella was good, but loses points because it was no real need for it. it was a hardcore match for the sake of a hardcore match (which is something i expect from a lower level indy show, not the game changing "next big thing" promotion), so the post-match attack by Omega lost some heat. everything they did during the brawl was tamer than what happened in the match, and their upcoming match has no real heat to go to. after beating a guy he's got no real issue with in bloody unsanctioned street fight, are we supposed to be excited for Moxley wrestling someone he hates in a regular match? and if they go No Disqualification, whoopty doo, we just saw Moxley in one.
opening tag, Daniels/CIMA and four-way were fun. i was in and out of the joshi match because i was working on something. and Allie/Bates and CEO/Nakazawa(?!) were what they were
