I think the big difference is that The Librarians are clearly a joke act. The Dark Order take themselves 100% seriously and it's absolutely dreadful. Yeah, I thought they may have gone in the direction they've played it on the indies before where due to their past gimmick being...well, video games (and this one clearly still having that flavor all over it) it was played with more of a sardonic, tongue in cheek way that's almost a commentary on edgelords and amounts to "two nerds trying to be dark and edgy" but can still go in the ring. Instead it's been played more straight and...well, unclear. I feel like as underwhelming as the Dark Order have been, the absolute last thing AEW needs is more guys "leaning into goofiness" and tongues in cheeks.

The live crowd definitely wasn't that into them to start and they need to really put more work to get them over. But, they got us by the end. I think they definitely have the potential to be a solid midcard heel team. They can work and know how to set up a match.

It's a shame cause Evil Uno's in-ring mannerisms are top notch and Stu Grayson seems like a heck of a wrestler...but this gimmick as a package just doesn't click. I dunno.

I really feel like the hatred for these guys is overblown Maybe it's a testament to AEW's talent that these are currently the guys singled out, regarded as one of the more elite tag teams on the scene and they just ain't clicking with people right now I don't think they'll make a bunch of people change the channel though, not if they flesh out the gimmick. I think they can easily make it work. I don’t think it’s overblown. They are godawful in their current incarnation.

The time to flesh out the gimmick was on the BTE or Road To AFTER Double or Nothing. Too late now, it's dead, Jim. Take the guys and come up with something new.

The two guys are talented in the ring and their match last night was solid, but the gimmick just isn't working in its current incarnation. It needs some heavy tuning.

I disagree. I enjoy them, both in ring and the gimmick. I don't need or want the whole thing to be spelled out in detail. They're evil guys that have some silly moments. Plus minions. Seems good to me.
It goes back to the whole wrestling as a circus metaphor. If you don't like the clowns wait a few minutes the trapeze act is up next.

The problem here is that AEW is already going in on someone and giving them a bad push. It's a bit troubling but the lack of a coherent heel/face dynamic for most of these guys leads a jobber team like this to get a push because we at least know they're heels.

I don't think they're channel-changing terrible, but I also don't really care about them very much.
It might help if they went more into Broken Matt style comedy territory, though I think the company has a pretty good balance of serious and silly at the moment, so it might be too much.

It just seems weird to me that the team that needs vignettes and explanation of their backstory the most is also the team that AEW seem adamant about NOT explaining. Like, I know who these guys are and what the gimmick is about, because I've seen them in Chikara, or PWG, or C*4. But for people who are either new to the product, or who mostly know the roster from BTE, they need explanation, especially since the Dark Order seems to be the most involved, least straightforward gimmick on the roster so far.

I was in the live crowd, and like the poster a couple of posts up said, it was more of a case of everyone being like ‘ugh these guys’ at first, but gradually being won over as the match went on. Yeah, things weren’t ELECTRIC during that match (until OC showed up), but where it was on the card it was designed to kind of work the crowd. The Dark Order needs fine tuning and Evil Uno looks like a schlub, I won’t argue that. But they’re not bad in the ring at all, and I wholeheartedly disagree that they “kill” the crowds.

I’m not feeling The Dark Order at all. Hopefully having TV let’s them flesh out the gimmick more, but I don’t exactly see a bright future here

I pretty much agree with this. I'm willing to give them a little bit longer for TV because they're more than likely going to do vignettes and the like. If we get to, say, the end of October and nothing's changed, then we can have this conversation again but they're a work in progress. Do I think more could have been done before then? Sure, but it seems way too easy to jump on the "ABJECT FAILURE" bandwagon for my liking.
