It absolutely killed the crowd and they've consistently killed the crowd in their appearances. The time to flesh out the gimmick was on the BTE or Road To AFTER Double or Nothing. Too late now, it's dead, Jim. Take the guys and come up with something new. This isn’t true at all. I was in the live crowd, and like the poster a couple of posts up said, it was more of a case of everyone being like ‘ugh these guys’ at first, but gradually being won over as the match went on. Yeah, things weren’t ELECTRIC during that match (until OC showed up), but where it was on the card it was designed to kind of work the crowd. The Dark Order needs fine tuning and Evil Uno looks like a schlub, I won’t argue that. But they’re not bad in the ring at all, and I wholeheartedly disagree that they “kill” the crowds. It was the same way at FFTF, too. Crowd was really "eh" about them when they came out but got more into them as the match went on.
But yeah, they definitely need gimmick/promo work so that the crowd is into them from the getgo instead of needing to be won over during the course of a match.

Yeah, reality is these guys are really good in the ring - they both are versatile in their offense and, more importantly, they know the ins and outs of working tag team psychology. If they weren't coming in with such an over the top gimmick they'd, oddly enough, probably be better off, since the focus would be more on their in-ring work, but they're starting from behind with people since even as the SSB they weren't the most established act on the US indies before they got stuck with their visa issues.

Evil Uno has great mannerisms, and their in-ring stuff is very nice. They'll really have something with these guys if they can make the right tweaks; they shouldn't be a straight-up comedy act, but if they lean into the silliness I can see it being something along the lines of heel Doink.

I haven't really been watching any of the "Road To" shows.
Has there been any time put into explaining why these guys are "The Dark Order", or what "The Dark Order" is supposed to be?

I don't recall them being on any of the Road To- shows, which has been a problem. Like, they're not Matanza Cueto or something, being dark and mysterious isn't going to get them that kind of mileage.
