Ragnarok also helped so much with Thor’s character, I went from not giving a shit about him to Thor being one of my top favourites. That’s absolutely important considering how huge his roles in Infinity War and Endgame would be. Agreed. Before Ragnarok, Thor was pretty much the Mike Kanellis of the MCU, and Hemsworth admitted he would've left the role after Endgame if Taika hadn't course corrected the character.

Read this as Rush Hour 4 (no idea why) and was both super confused and excited.

Thor is my favorite Avenger and I definitely enjoyed Ragnarok, as well as enjoying Waititi's other work, but the entire movie being an outright comedy kept me from feeling any tension or like anything was at stake which is definitely an issue. I'm definitely fine with them keeping the humorous tone going forward because Hemsworth kills in that role and it's a lot of fun, but I hope they can strike a better balance.

Yeah, he hated the experience on Thor 2 so much that he was pretty much gonna show up for the pay cheque for Thor 3 and Avengers 3 and 4 and f*** off from Marvel forever. But he had so much fun with the new character direction that he’s more then willing to stay involved now. I could see him being apart of it for a long time, not as often as now, but still show up from time to time.

Meh.
What I am happy for is Hemsworth gets another stab at it. Thor still being around in the MCUs a good thing.

From a character standpoint it makes sense for him to stick around, given that Asgardians live for thousands of years and Thor isn't even middle-aged yet. Short of a violent death, Thor should be a character who never really goes away, even if his appearances become more infrequent.

Beta Ray Bill, please?
But on a more serious note, I actually think this is a really good thing. Not only because Gunn seemed genuinely bewildered by the concept of Asgardians of the Galaxy till he saw Endgame (or someone clued him in) and seemed unsure how much Thor would be in GotG3, but it confirms Thor is still around the MCU in a large capacity for at least a little while longer. After the big question mark Endgame left in the air about the status of the Avengers and especially the original six (two dead, two retired?, one with a jacked arm and the other off world) it feels nice to know one of them is going to be kicking around (not counting Hawkeye's involvement in the MCU Disney+ show).
Ragnarok was a fun movie, but did have the unfortunate timing for its plot of being right before Infinity War & Endgame. So in a lot of ways their hands were tied creatively. You can't do a whole lot when Thanos is on the horizon and the future of the Thor character is a big question mark.
With the direction moving forward being a mystery & its early stages and an end game (no pun intended) not immediately in sight, it'll allow them to hopefully do what Thor 1 and Thor 2 got to do (though didn't take full advantage of) and build on each other and set stuff up for Thor movies without having to worry too much about the greater narrative.

Some of y'all are poopy. This good news. Downside, his Akira project is getting pushed back. Better it is done right than done quick though Oh no, the movie that probably won't be good is being pushed back.

Just go all the way in this time and add a laugh track "Remember that time I flew to Wakanda from Nidavellir? Boy, were my arms Thor." "But Thor, how are you going to open that giant, collapsed Einstein-Rosen bridge?" "Simple, Starlord: once again, I'm going to have to fist the anus." "When we sneak into Mentor's base, Guardians, remember you have to be low key."

"Yeah, they overdo it sometimes, but this is a movie where an orgy spaceship shoots fireworks over the rainbow bridge where Hulk fights a zombie wolf. If you're mad it tries to make you laugh too, you're doin it wrong."

I'm happy Thor could lose the weight. It's always tough after all that emotional eating drinking.
