A real old example of this is The Tonga Kid being a non-union Samoan equivalent of Jimmy Snuka. Siva Afi was another attempt to replace Snuka. And had a lot less charisma than Tonga Kid.

“We have to make our top guy funny like The Rock!”
But only they end up not being funny.

When I heard about the Stunner I went they literally have no idea what to do with KO. they've thrown the towel, we'll just make him Stone Cold.
The worst offender of this was when in WCW Russo tried to make Booker T into the Rock. "The Bookend", "Don't Hate the Player, Hate the Game", etc...

Wasn't the reason that Kevin Owens started using the Stunner is because he couldn't do his previous finisher for health reasons anymore? If so that'd be quite odd given he's been using it as a nearfall in like every match. Yes and no, because I've noticed he's been doing the Pop Up Powerbomb into a sitout, so I figure there's some reason he doesn't want to do the Standing version anymore, and it does absolutely seem like it's getting phased out of his moveset. I also think Kevin really wants to do the Stunner out of his own personal fandom of Steve Austin. I remember him being on Austin's podcast when he threw out a Stunner to Roman at their Rumble match a few years ago, and you could tell that it wasn't the last time he was going to do one, but Austin didn't like the fact that he was throwing it out for a cheap nearfall. So, it makes sense that if Owens would adopt the move if he wants to get rid of the Powerbomb, because now he has to protect the Stunner as a finish.

With WWE wanting Owens to be "Stone Cold" including giving then the stunner. And other moments like giving Swagger the Ankle Lock(absolutely because the Angle similarities were many). Just, why? All you do when making the same finisher for that reason is reminding us that they are not said Star. And both man had really good finishers too. Are we allowed to count Renegade/Warrior as an example here?

When they gave The Miz the Figure 4 Leglock and Ric Flair as his manager. So painful, especially when he couldn’t put on the figure 4 most of the time.

It's a sign of a company boss without any good ideas, surrounded by people who earn their money telling him that his shitty ideas are good.

I'm actually liking KO right now. It seems to fit for him.

No mention of Miz trying to pass off his lousy figure four and being the next Ric Flair?

I feel like many superstars have the goal of becoming a poor man's Shawn Michaels. Or as poor as Shawn Michaels, so they end up working for JBL. Or as poor as Shawn Michaels so that they end up working Saudi Arabia...(too soon?)

with their styles, look, swearing they can steal the show, along with a surplus of superkicks, i feel like many superstars have the goal of becoming a poor man's Shawn Michaels. Ziggler literally stole everything but Shawn's talent.

Their segment was the only good thing about Raw 25, let's do what the WWE does and rehash it half-assed!
