This is some serious career damaging stuff and in some cases career killing.

So someone did a frame-by-frame analysis of the trailer: (language) Watched a minute and holy shit, this video is one hour and 18 minutes long. I don't care how crap a movie is, if you spend an hour and 18 minutes talking about a 3 minute trailer, you are officially sadder than the thing you're trying to mock.

And please let there be a Brian Blessed cameo. I say that about every movie and TV show.

This is some serious career damaging stuff and in some cases career killing. I'll make a bold claim that being in a bad film isn't career killing in the year 2019. Like, unless casting directors are going to genuinely think "Hey, Ian McKellen is an established actor whose done a broad range of films but he's playing a cat here so his career is DONE!"

Yeah, there's no way this is killing anyone's career, especially with some of the shit that comes out, and how successful many of these people are. At least, with the actors. Producers, etc, may be less safe, but the actors are going to be perfectly fine. If someone can't work after this, they weren't going to be having much luck, anyway.

It’s like they turned the old Sonic movie design into humanoid cats. I still find Sonic movie Sonic far creepier

I skipped around, and was fortunate enough to land on the James Corden bit around the 34 minute mark. Haha.

I'll go further and say that being in a bad film isn't career killing in any year. Even so-called "career-killing movies" are usually the culmination of a series of bad role choices that knock the confidence studios have in an actor's drawing power. I wouldn't complain if it killed James Corden's career though.

And even then if you have a good enough agent or enough goodwill, that stuff can be built back up again. Happened with Halle Berry this year, for example. Look, man, just accept James Corden's going to be in every musical movie adaptation from now until the heat death of the universe.

Even then, all of that goes away if the film makes a lot of money, which is could genuinely do. Like, everyone in the film industry knows it's a living so unless this was some kind of oddball project that no studio wanted a part of (which this very much isn't), then everyone involved's probably going to be fine.

Broadway was a big part of my childhood so I’m going to go see this.
I remember my grandmother got me free balcony seats to a showing and I was told not to stretch my hands over the balcony. Later found out the reason was because several of the performers walk on all fours across the balcony edge during one of the songs. Walked right by me.

I feel like a Wood Rocket parody of Cats would have them looking exactly the same as in this movie.

I think a big sticking point for me and why they look...off is that the costumes for the stage productions are furry, they're fluffy. Obviously to different degrees because they're meant to represent different breeds of cat, but they're hairy. You know. Like cats. These...just look weird, like they're wearing spandex with a fur design air brushed onto it. They feel awkwardly naked. I'm a fan of the musical, I saw it on broadway, but this? This is a hard pass for me. it's also the wierd CGI makeup looks unbelievably offputting.

I will give credit where credit is due; it’s incredible how Rebel Wilson is able to consistently be terrible in everything she does.
