I just read that AC/DC is actually still around. After Malcolm Young died and Brian Johnson went almost completely deaf I was pretty sure they’d just have a brief run with Axl Rose filling in and that would be that.
But I saw that they are actually working on a new album and Brian Johnson might even sing on it.
I don’t know if you can call them the Terry Funk of rock with KISS and The Rolling Stones still around, but they have to be a contender.

Probably KISS. I don’t recall AC/DC having too many farewell tours, if any. But KISS have been on one for decades, much like Terry Funks retirement.
Slayer are sadly getting there too. Their farewell tour was just extended into next year or something.

And they will be nowhere near northeast Wisconsin so I will be missing both Slayer and the chance to do literally anything else in the building but listen to Ministry.

Also Ministry have had two “final albums” (and a tour, ten years ago) only to come back still touring and releasing albums.

It’s a killer line-up (Primus, and Phil just doing Panf***ingtera songs). Not coming to Toronto either but I don’t want to see any of these bands in a stadium or outdoor amphitheater anyway

Not coming to Toronto either but I don’t want to see any of these bands in a stadium or outdoor amphitheater anyway It's a shame because three of the four are ones I'd love to see plus I missed Phil's band when they were in Green Bay either earlier this year or late last, I don't remember. I know they'll be in my birth state of Montana but I can't spare the vacation time or the money to go all the way to Missoula.

The Who are actually still touring this summer, although The Two seems like it might be a more appropriate name these days.

better question- who is the Dennis Stamp of Rock Bands? Too qualify for that it would have to be a fairly unknown band that is attached to a bigger, more successful group. I nominate Mike Patton’s band Mr. Bungle.

Rolling Stones.
Their first retirement tour was in the 80's.
That was nearly four decades ago.

Rolling Stones. Their first retirement tour was in the 80's. That was nearly four decades ago. And yet, Keith Richards is still alive.

Honourable mention to Iggy Pop, though he's never done a retirement tour as far as I'm aware.
