Wasn't the premier last week? I watched AN episode last week, was that just a bonus episode or one-off?

I thought it was a decent start to the season. Established the setting and how things are well enough.
The training scene was cool. I will be disappointed though if the shield tactics are forgottem about.
Daryl and Carols bit was the highlight. Honestly, a Carol and Daryl spinoff following a roadtrip around zombie ravaged America would be fun, they have good chemistry.
The last shot of Alpha was menacing. What a great villain she is. So much scarier than comic Alpha.

Decent season opener. I’ll be watching again this season. I’m into the whole Alpha storyline.

very fun episode i thought, and it actually felt a little different too with a real unusual main story with the satellite (can't imagine that would be the only one), and loads of nice slo motion zombie face slicing too however they've done the multi-character same timeline trope enough now loved how awkward lydias' training was still not accepted into the group i see however no new title sequence to reflect the upcoming series everyone is back in their place, but getting annoyed BUT BEING COOL ABOUT IT ..... was carol about to jump into alphas lion enclosure and goad her? DAT CAROL LOOK however i didn't quite get that final shot scaling, thought the rock formation was closer, would be better if they had alpha coming out in that long shot ..... overall WELCOME BACK RICKLESS AND MORTY

While I think they picked perfect selections for the actors in Governor and Negan and you can have a debate which iteration was better, Alpha is no doubt better in the TV show in every single way than her comicbook couterpart

The biggest problem with Alpha was after that show of dominance where she basically tried to threaten Rick and then slapped Lydia for "weakness" in showing her emotions, she then proceeded to break down herself in the woods and then kill a Whisper who saw her.
Once Negan found the group, he basically charms her to an extent and then shockingly kills her.

Might be a controversial take, but I’ve been enjoying this show a lot more lately than I had been the previous few seasons. I love Rick, but it’s nice to see the character development get spread around. I’ve been wanting Aaron to be a bigger player for years, and now he’s finally stepping up as one of the main characters. I also love Darryl becoming a leader and the arc he’s been on lately.
The show didn’t feel like classic Walking Dead, but I liked what it did feel like. It was different, but great.

The current Whisperers arc is really good. All Out War went on too long and just felt repetitive. It had its moments, but could have and should have been shorter. Plus, although Negan was great, The Whisperers are just much more fun as villains than the Saviors. Theyre creepy as hell, and Alpha is just terrifying. I think part of the problem is, The Whisperers can utilize the Dead part of The Walking Dead, whereas the Saviors, the dead were a bit part.

Yeah, after this many seasons, we've had so many variations on "evil human society with monologuing leader" it had just gotten stale. The Whisperers are a fresher take on it, different tactics, a scarier leader etc.

Heres a group of human thigs attacking Alexandria. Next arc, heres the exact same thing on a bigger scale.

I'm trying to think of other things they could have done, maybe an extended period where they were trapped in a location? Like that huge hoard of Walkers that was blocked by a truck, if they'd gotten out so there was no way out of Alexandria for months, supplies running low, tempers fray etc. I can't think of a time they've done that for more than an episode or 2. It'd possibly also lead in better, there's a reason the group are weakened and can be taken rather than "these guys are just so much bigger and badder, until we need them not to be" maybe they're the ones that clear all of those Walkers, so they've actually saved the characters, which would add to the dynamic with Negan

Not really controversial. After the way they handled Glenn and Abe with the finale fake out and then being Negans bitch for a whole season, those seasons weren't really hitting on all cylinders. Well acted yes, but the story around it was meh especially when you consider in that story arc you lost a good amount of main characters with Carl being the most controversial They've been on a good role since Rick left. Everything feels "new" because the cast of long term survivors is dwindling which helps sell Alpha as a threat even more
