It’s been over 100 degrees here in Massachusetts. I don’t plan on mailing any ice cream cakes, but I could see even thinner plastic taking a beating in a metal blue box in this kind of heat. Although I’ve read that it needs to be 250 degrees Fahrenheit for plastic to actually melt.
I’ve read headlines about mailboxes melting in Arizona before too.

um. Well, I've had a hard few months so my friend who lives a state over mailed me some WWE trading cards, a card, and a bar of chocolate to cheer me up a couple weeks ago and the chocolate bar was liquid by the time it arrived. I was able to put it in the fridge and salvage it though. But, no, never had plastic or anything else melt. I'll keep you in mind if it ever does happen though.

They didn’t melt, but they broke. The person I was sending them to still ate them though

Not personally, but an ex ordered a vinyl record that arrived the first day she was out of the country for a week. UPS left it on the front door of her house. In Summer. In Texas.

Never had anything melt. But had a record get warped in the heat.
My wife and I had just moved to a new subdivision. All the mail boxes were at the front. And sometimes we wouldn't check them for a few days. I had finally gotten a cheap sealed copy of Frankenchrist, yes it included the Giger poster. Forgot it was coming in and it sat in the mailbox during August in Texas for 4 or 5 days.
The person that sold it to me offered to refund half my money. Told them not to cause it got damaged thru my fault. Sold the warped record to a buddy that just wanted the record to hang on his wall. Sold the sleeve to another friend that wanted it to frame and hang on his wall. Then hung the Giger poster on the wall in the computer room.

Thankfully, that's never happened to me. I haven't ordered anything online for the past two months because I don't want to go out in the heat of the day to get my stuff off the ground.
