Here we go again, it’s a new season yes it is. And as is the custom in every football thread, it starts with a reminder. Keep it civil, a bit of piss-taking is fine, anything more is not.

Hard to look past City and Liverpool as the top two again. Liverpool have spent well and - more importantly - held on to their star players. City will have to hope losing Kompany, who still played a huge role in their success last season despite not playing a great many games, won't affect them too much.
I expect Newcastle to struggle badly again. Replacing Benitez with Steve Bruce is the least-inspiring option they could have made, and the squad is lacking in both quality and depth.
Sheffield United and Norwich are probably my other picks to go down. Neither look like they have an abundance of top-flight players. Villa have invested heavily, and that should help them as they've bought a decent mix of players, but I expect them to hover just above the drop zone.
As for my team, a lot hinges on the potential deals for Dybala, Maguire, and Fernandes. Solskjær's relying heavily on youth, but this isn't the Class of '92 we're dealing with here. Top four would be a massive achievement.

Sadly I think Brighton are nailed on for relegation. Chris Hughton had done a good job there the last few years with not much money and although they had a terrible second half of the season, he still (just) kept them up. Can’t see Graham Potter doing that.

Can’t see Graham Potter doing that. I've got Brighton, Newcastle and Sheffield United for the drop. Norwich seem to have a great unity that could see them scrape through.

I really miss when the Sky advert for the new season was a huge thing. Fond memories of Sean Bean and “Football. We know how you feel about it, because we feel the same”

The UEFA Super Cup will be refereed by a woman. I expect the knuckle-dragging f***witts will be pleased by that decision.

The top 4-6 is going to be very interesting, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea are all looking incredibly vulnerable for various reasons, Man City, Liverpool and Spurs look strong but beyond that, pretty much anything looks likely.

LUTON starts with a damn good point too and of COURSE Middlesbrough miss a penalty, starting off where they left off i see i'll have a laugh at them when i see EFL ON QUEST tomorrow Tonight wasn't even Assombalonga's worst penalty for us. Check out youtube to see his effort against Reading a couple of seasons ago, it almost took out the international space station. Why he is still on penalties is a mystery to me!

I’m not ready to make predictions until the transfer window closes.
If United sign Maguire, Fernandes, Dybala and Mandzukic, they’re a completely different team, so it’s impossible to rate them right now.

Good to see Leyton Orient get a win today must have been a hard summer for them after the death of manager Justin Edinburgh.
Also I fear for the futures of Bolton & Bury. Bury have had their first 2 games of the season called off now and lost their whole promotion squad from last season.
I remember a time when Bolton were Arsenal’s bogey team when Allardyce was in charge I hated playing them and it’s sad to see how it’s gone for them and it’s going to be very hard for them to avoid relegation to League 2.

Here is my completely amateurish & uninformed EPL 19/20 ladder prediction. 1. Man City - sadly can't see them being beaten again. 2. Liverpool - will probably score over 90 points & run 2nd again 3. Spurs - have bought well & will benefit from having the whole season at the new ground. 4. Arsenal - Pepe is a good signing but still serious questions at the back. 5. Chelsea - Lampard is going to do a better job than many think. 6. Everton - here is one of my surprises, I think they will cause of teams trouble. 7. Man Utd - OGS gone by new year's. Pogba will go & Maguire won't be able to handle the scrutiny that comes with his pricetag. 8. Leicester - will build on the good work that Rodgers did in the back end of last season. 9. Wolves - I get the feeling they will struggle to reproduce what they did last season whilst balancing European football. 10. West Ham - mid table security, same as last season. 11. Norwich - clearly the best of the three promoted sides. 12. Bournemouth - will be slightly better than last season. 13. Watford - similar season to last season, probably will sack a manager or two along the way. 14. Southampton - won't end up so close to relegation this season, starting to build towards a much secure PL future. 15. Crystal Palace - will just kind of exist, won't do much of note, except maybe beat Arsenal again. 16. Aston Villa - back where a club of there prestige should be, will consolidate this season to ensure they stay up. 17. Sheffield Utd - have spent money quite wisely, can see them staying up. 18. Burnley - went backwards last season, will go further backwards this season. 19. Brighton - sacking Hughton was very silly. Potter hasn't got enough experience to keep them up. 20. Newcastle Utd - losing Rafa is the worst thing to happen to them. Not sure they will score over 30 points.

Liverpool to finally win the league again. City 2nd. Brighton, Sheffield United and Burnley to go down. Aston Villa to be this season's surprise package.
