With Spurs going another season without a trophy and unsure of being in the top four/five and a CL spot for next season, could there be a few players handing in transfer requests this summer? I think because it'll be Mourinho's first summer to sign players they'll be more willing to stick around because its him. Especially if City's Europe ban gets upheld

I can see a few players playing the "give me a huge pay rise or I'll look to join a team that's challenging for trophies" card. Daniel Levy is a very tough negotiator, but it's always easier to negotiate when your team is on the rise. This Tottenham team has seemingly reached the top of the hill and is on its way back down again, which puts the power back in the hands of its most indispensable players.

I think because it'll be Mourinho's first summer to sign players they'll be more willing to stick around because its him. Especially if City's Europe ban gets upheld I think Mourinho is more of a hindrance than a selling point these days. There’s no doubt he’s one of the best Managers of recent times but now he’s not got the aura about him. He’s been at several clubs recently where he’s pissed off players and staff. Ever since his awful treatment of the physio at Chelsea a few years back, he seems to have lost the plot a bit. Now he’s going out on TV and ridiculing his players. Would anyone want to play his negative football and run the risk of being berated on live TV? I’ll always agree that no player should be bigger than a club and I admire Levy’s doggedness in keeping the wage structure on his terms. That’s all good and well providing the trophies are there but without success, I’m not sure certain players will want to stick around.

Manchester City have postponed their fixture with Arsenal due to coronavirus fears "after it emerged that personnel from Arsenal FC have come into contact with the Olympiacos owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who has been named as a positive case of COVID-19." mancity.com/news/mens/man-city-arsenal-postponed-63719481

No matter how bad Arsenal are it’s always a comfort to know that Spurs are allergic to success.
Also hopefully our players and staff are OK and nobody has contracted this virus. I think the Serie A season might possibly not reach the end so hoping the Premier League doesn’t suffer the same fate.

Yet again, a mistake by the keeper in Europe costs Liverpool dearly.

Wow. So many fans whose teams are having a poor season are celebrating Liverpool losing. Comes to something when the highlight of a team’s season is another team losing a game.

LIVERPOOL the champions of europe ..... got their equalising goal and put the game into extra time! THEN SCORED EARLY IN EXTRA TIME 2-1 on aggregate
.....
then lost THREE GOALS and lost the game and lost the tie and OUT OF EUROPE
2-4 on aggregate to ATLETICO MADRID!
PSG goes through overturning a 2-1 first leg deficit to win over BORUSSIA DORTMUND 3-2

One of the Juventus defenders, Daniele Rugani has the Coronavirus. So that’s next week’s match against Lyon up in the air.

You support United right? So even if your team wins the two cups they’re in, the highlight of your season will be Liverpool losing? Even with beating your local rivals home and away? Like for example, Arsenal fans I’ve seen on Facebook celebrating Liverpool losing to Watford a few weeks back like they’d just won the league again (conveniently forgetting that they’re actually not the only English team to go undefeated for a season). Or last night they were laughing at Spurs for getting knocked out of a competition they weren’t even in. Pisses me off just as much when Liverpool fans do it too. Not suggesting anyone here is doing it to that extent as I’m just going on Facebook reactions but seriously, some fans need to put that effort into getting behind their own team.

The football threads used to sometimes be quite toxic (and I’ll be the first to admit, I contributed to that toxicity just as much as anyone else) as they were full of baiting posts and people posting more frequently about hatred for other teams than when their own team actually won. Then I just decided that it was getting too much and “re-booted” the footy threads with a warning. That’s why I start every football thread here and always start it with the same request about respect.

They’re not gonna win anything hell im just hoping for the fifth spot. It’s been such a bad year that I’ll take anything I can get.

I just don't have any time for "banter" these days... though I never really had any time for it to begin with. I still love getting one over on Arsenal, Liverpool, City, and Chelsea, and its never much fun seeing one of your rivals enjoying trophy success, but (to use an old chestnut) football's a game of swings and roundabouts. Every team that makes it to the top inevitably has to fall at some point, so I enjoy it when United are winning trophies and don't begrudge other teams having their successes.

Personally wasn’t bothered if Liverpool went the season unbeaten since as you said it wasn’t like we were the first anyway. The 49 game unbeaten run was the problem for me as I wanted Arsenal to keep that record which thankfully we did. Was hoping Liverpool would win last night as I enjoy watching them play. They will still win the league though which is the goal of course.

UEFA set to discuss whether Euro 2020 will be delayed by a year. I’ll be gutted if it is because I have tickets and my flights for Rome are booked. Thankfully haven’t booked any travel to Dublin yet for that game.
Man City v Real Madrid game suspended next week as is Juventus v Lyon in the Champions League. Three Leicester players have also been isolated over possible Coronavirus fears.

Wow. So many fans whose teams are having a poor season are celebrating Liverpool losing. Comes to something when the highlight of a team’s season is another team losing a game. I haven't celebrated Liverpools losses, but.... Personally: to me it's because most Liverpool fans I've encountered have been obnoxious for many years. Like, the type that goes on how every player is the best in the world. And it kinda irks me when Jurgen Klopp goes on a record to say things like "I don't understand with the quality they have the football they play. They could play proper football but they stand deep and have counter-attacks." Like Atletico shouldn't have their way of playing that Diego Simeone prefers and which has produced their most successful period in recent years?
