So the MLS says that they can lose billions.
For a league focused on rapid expansion and with low TV ratings, I'm smelling some tough decisions at the top level.

Good news for Newcastle: Mike Ashley has finally agreed on a deal to sell the club. Bad news for Newcastle: the bulk of the money being put up for the club has come from the investment group headed by Prince Mohammed bin Salman. As a Newcastle fan, I am so, so torn by this. On one hand, the club that I have loved as long as I have remembered, the club that I was basically born supporting, is on the verge of getting gigantic financial investment whilst simultaneously getting rid of the vile slug who has systematically destroyed the passion that was once synonymous with Newcastle United. On the other hand, that investment is coming from the same people who I have openly condemned WWE for getting in bed with. The same people who represent an appalling regime who shit on a lot of the things I believe in.

Wish: We want Mike Ashley out. Answer: Granted, but you can never, EVER criticize the club ever again for fear of the Buzzsaw Prince striking again.

The fit & proper person criteria really is a joke isn't it?

The Dutch FA have declared the season null and void. League leaders Ajax will not be crowned champions but will qualify for the Champions League, subject to UEFA's approval, and no promotion or relegation will take place.

France follows the Dutch lead and has confirmed the current season will not be finished, though no decision has been made as to whether championships, promotions and relegations will happen or not.

Man I really don’t want the FA to cancel the season but it looks increasingly more likely it will happen. Does that mean the FA Cup is cancelled too? Champs Lge & Europa Lge as well?

It’s really not that big a deal, delay the next season and shorten it. Again, I’m not just saying this as I’m a Liverpool fan. If we were a few games into the season, than abandoning wouldn’t be an issue but it’s three-quarters of the way through. If they declare no promotion or relegation, then teams will start taking legal action over loss of revenue from not getting the money a promotion would bring. Other teams will miss out on money as Sky and BT will be owed back money from not being able to show matches (and that’s just the UK channels). I can several teams going down the shitter over this as every club will have to be paying money back to various sources. Then there’s teams currently not in a Champions League spot who might miss out on hundreds of millions from not being in it next year. And you know they’ll be taking legal action over it, and to be honest, I wouldn’t blame them.
It’s hard to say as it’s all conjecture at the moment. But financially, this will affect football for decades if they scrap the season.

Not a major surprise but PSG have been crowned Ligue 1 champions since the 12 point gap between them and Marsellie, with a game in hand for them, wasn’t exactly going to be topped before season’s end regardless.

I think the premier league should give Liverpool the title, keep the standings as is, and have a relegation playoff.

Incredibly cynical of the relegation threatened Prem teams to raise objections to neutral venues. Their home records are piss poor anyway.

I'm the slowest of slowpokes on this one but, I've really been enjoying Sunderland Til' I Die on Netflix.
It's a fascinating look into the inner workings of a club in complete turmoil, and how much the club itself, and the sport in general, means to the local community.
And Jack Rodwell is the most spoiled human being I've seen in any sports documentary.

Never watched it but from what I’ve heard, I get the impression Netflix commissioned it as they (like a lot of us) expected Sunderland to go straight back up and give us all a happy ending. Of course, the opposite happened and they then were gifted a club falling apart in front of their cameras.

But it does take a turn 3 episodes in when it become clear that the club is an utter shambles from top to bottom. And it just snowballs from there. I just finished the part where Aiden McGeady just blatantly rips Chris Coleman a new one on his tactics for everyone to see. There's a second season which I'm excited for, and a bit scared, to see. Haven't gotten there yet.

Probably the saddest part is watching what Sunderland's struggles have done to the community's overall morale as a whole. This is a region that has been ravaged by terrible economic policies that have decimated their biggest industries. The documentary does an excellent job of giving you an idea that the club might be the only thing they have left to bring them together, and that's going down the tubes quickly.

The UK Government has given the OK for the Premier League to return behind closed doors at the start of June.
Now, whether the Premier League itself will agree to return is another question...
