The UK Government has given the OK for the Premier League to return behind closed doors at the start of June. Now, whether the Premier League itself will agree to return is another question... Closed doors means no crowds and no cameras? I presume cameras will still be allowed since these matches will still be broadcasted on TV.

The only time I've ever heard about matches being played "behind closed doors" is when Serie A had to hold matches away from supporters after incidents of racism. So, wasn't sure how that all worked. I mean, I think the idea of keeping the standings as is, giving Liverpool the trophy, and having a relegation playoff like Germany has works best for the Premier League but, I'm good with this.

Should be said, this all depends on how the Project Restart meetings go later this week, but it takes away the idea of pitching it to the government away.

35 years ago today, thousands of football fans went to watch matches. 56 never came home.
The Bradford City stadium fire always seems to be over-shadowed by other disasters but we should never forget.

I remember watching the footage of this as part of fire safety training years ago & it has always stuck with me how bad this was but also how lucky that more fans didn't die that day.

So nice to see live football again. Yeah, it’s weird with no crowd but I’d take what we’ve got now rather than nothing.

BBC Scotland showed Brazil vs Scotland from the 74 World Cup earlier. I know the 74 Brazil team were nothing compared to the 1970 version but Scotland were all over them!

Considering I don't know if the USL Championship (and the Indy Eleven) are coming back this season, I'll just go back to the next best thing; making fun of FC Cincinnati and wondering when will Gabriel Brener finally sell the Houston Dynamo.

No problem with that so long as they're regularly tested, have a 21-day quarantine period beforehand, and the first handful of games are played behind closed doors. Same for pretty much any sports league at this point for me. I know it's strict and not playing in front of fans will be a bit bizarre but, I'm not bothered. There are things far more important than sports right now. It's that or nothing, I say. It's genuinely not worth the risk to have crowds like that at this point and, not to mention, it's not like they'd go out of business if they played games in front of an empty stadium.

I'm amazed at the amount of people who are excusing the Buzzsaw Prince buying a Premier League club because hey, there are other owners who have some shady stuff in their past.
To parrot a point made by HITC Sevens in response to the True Geordie's "Woe is us, please have mercy on us working class fans" pity party: Roman Abramovich is a corrupt oligarch. Nobody with any sense denies that. However, unlike MBS, Roman Abramovich is NOT Russia. He runs a football club and some businesses. He doesn't dictate how Russia runs it's affairs. MBS does for Saudi Arabia. So all the horrible things that his country does, he's responsible for. Now that he owns Newcastle United, whatever Saudi Arabia does will reflect on them because it's leader now owns them.
Also, if this takeover goes through, can the Premier League at least have the sense to admit that they are truly not bothered with kind of people who own their clubs? If your only interest is money and power, then just say so. Spare me the "Fit and proper person" horse manure.

15 years ago today, the greatest Champions league final of all time. Liverpool 3 - AC Milan 3. I remember watching this game at University in Birmingham at the Uni bar with my flatmate and his friends who all came from Leicester & were Leicester fans except one who was a Liverpool fan. 3 nil down at half time and the Liverpool fan was pretty distraught and wanted to go home. We all convinced him to stay and I’m glad we did. What a game. A pissed off AC Milan fan broke one of the windows of the bar on his way out as well. What a sore loser.

If Arsenal beat City it means Liverpool can win the league instantly simply by winning their first game back.

Good I hear the announcement today hoping everything all runs smoothly. Bundesliga seems to be going ok so far despite lack of fans some of the games have been good to watch.

If Arsenal beat City it means Liverpool can win the league instantly simply by winning their first game back. Just do the one game & end the season.
