So, the "null and void" brigade who were pining for Liverpool not to win it all won't get their wish.

The Merseyside Derby will take place on the 20th of June.
I doubt they'll wrap it up the first weekend as I don't see Arsenal beating Man City but, I think it won't take long before w can officially crown Liverpool.

Hardly posted here the last few days so I’m a bit late but two days ago was the 35th Anniversary of the Heysel disaster. RIP to the 39 fans who needlessly died that day. Jesus, 1985 really was s black year for football tragedies.

MLS isn't even going to have a tournament as they'll just go into lockout, most likely. The league gave until tomorrow for the players association to agree on principle, and it looks unlikely.

Heysel was as much a senseless, needless tragedy as Hillsborough and vice versa.

Jesus, 1985 really was s black year for football tragedies. I also wish people wouldn't use tragedies like Heysel as some sort of scoreboard to whack other fans with. Heysel was as much a senseless, needless tragedy as Hillsborough and vice versa. Liverpool fans without question have to take their part of the blame for that night. Unfortunately, this certainly made it easier for many people’s immediate knee-jerk reaction to the Hillsborough disaster to be the opinion that it was hooliganism from a club that had recent history with it. However, that stadium should never have been holding any sport event of any kind, let alone the European Cup final. It was in such disrepair and was an accident waiting to happen. I’m not saying that in any way it justifies what certain Liverpool fans did that night because their actions are indefensible and it’s a part of history that should never be forgotten nor forgiven. But there is a point that could be argued that if that fighting happened in a safer stadium, then there might not have even been a single death. We’ll never know. Sadly, football hooliganism was so rampant back then, it was only a matter of time until a tragedy like that happened.

Chelsea are in talks to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for next season....whenever next season will be. Chelsea need a top striker haven’t really had one since Costa and even he was erratic.
Also looks like the first free to air Premier League game will be Bournemouth vs Palace. About 30 or so Premier League games will be free to air out of the 90 odd left.

MLS are back with a mini tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World in Orlando (same location as the NBA), running from July 8th to August 11th. There'll be group stages, with points going towards the regular season, then knockout rounds and the final on August 11th, with the winner qualifying for the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League. After that, the regular season will resume at the normal grounds at a date to be determined.

oh dear benfica
two nil up at half time GUESS WHAT HAPPENS
yeeeeeeeep
half an hour to go portimonense get one back, and from then on they were on top, and then an absolutely brilliant strike from just outside the box leveled it
and that means porto could very well go back on top, and early on lead maritimo 1-0

It’s a sticking point for a lot of fans. My friend’s wife is from Bavaria and she was rather annoyed when someone referred to Leverkusen as Bayern. Leverkusen are Bayer. Bayer is the Pharmaceutical company they’re named after as they’re based in Leverkusen. Munich is Bayern. Bayern means Bavaria and Leverkusen isn’t in Bavaria.

La Liga returns tonight with Sevilla vs. Real Betis - international broadcasts will have digital fans superimposed in the stands, and audio provided by EA Sports FIFA games. Spanish viewers have that as an option alongside empty stands and no audio sweetening.

After initially being asked to hold the game in a neutral venue the Merseyside derby will now take place at Goodison Park. This means that should Man City fail to beat Arsenal Liverpool will have the chance to win the title at the home ground of its local rival.

Liverpool can only win it at Goodison if City lose to Arsenal. If City draw, Liverpool can get it down to one point needed with a win.

Felt the presentation of Sevilla/Betis was very iffy last night - the "fans in the stands" were pretty much just pixels that sometimes got replaced by slogans, and the crowd noise was too low in the mix. I was expecting FIFA games quality "fans".
Anyway, Italian football returns tonight with the second legs of the Coppa Italia semi finals. Juventus vs. AC Milan is first up, with Inter Milan vs. Napoli tomorrow.
