So he's going to play as Fraser Forsters' back-up then ? If today's news is to be believed, Forster will not be extending his stay, and that a couple of top-six clubs have approached him to serve as backup.

He was certainly aided by England's lack of depth in terms of Goalkeepers for a period it has to be said, but yeah, as good as he could be on his day, he always had a gaping error in him too. As an England fan, he gave me the fear when he was between the sticks and it came as a great relief when Jordan Pickford took the number 1 shirt from him. But, having said that, he's achieved more than just about any other English Goalkeeper has in generations so he certainly deserves some props, even if his career has dropped off somewhat since his heyday. My worry is Pickford seems to be heading in the same direction. His stock has dropped dramatically in the last year or so. Though not as bad as Jack Butland. Holy shit. That's just sad to see.

Pretty awful VAR decision in the Sheffield United v Spurs game. I know by the letter of the law it should be disallowed but how is Moura supposed to avoid hand balling it when he’s falling over?
Certainly changed the game because Sheff U are comfortably 3 nil up.

Liverpool hasn't won a single match in July.
You gotta think Jurgen Klopp's starting to feel the pressure.

Other than the first twenty minutes Liverpool just weren’t in it. They stopped their usual gegenpressing game and though it may sound like I’m making an excuse, they played like a team who had already been crowned Champions and knew the match didn’t carry much importance from a League standing. It’s sad for Man City. They played really well and just beat the Champions 4-0. Yet it almost seems like a hollow victory due to last week’s events.

Bournemouth finishes the season with Spurs, Leicester, City, Saints and Everton.
They might not get another point.

Bournemouth finishes the season with Spurs, Leicester, City, Saints and Everton. They might not get another point. They put up a spirited fight today, so I could see them getting something from a couple of those games, especially if the other team has nothing to play for. Still, it's looking about as bleak as it gets.

Jadon Sancho has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United, but Dortmund are holding out for £100 million for him, double what United have offered.

If United get Sancho they're going to be serious contenders next season. Not a complete team yet, but maybe the best United side post-Fergie.

The problem with Man U signing Sancho is that Greenwood, Rashford & Martial seem to be forming a decent front 3 for Man U now so where would Sancho fit in? Especially with Fernandes & Pogba tying up 2 midfield spots.
Of course Sancho is a better player than probably all of that front 3 but if they continue to play like this Solskjaer might be reluctant to change it.

The problem is, I feel like we talked about this exact same point pre-Covid. So if this is where they are now, it doesn’t feel like much has changed.

Could be a similar situation to Werner - player wanted to join Liverpool, Liverpool could not or would not pay the fee being asked, and he wound up going elsewhere. Sancho is reported as wanting to go to United, but the clubs appear to be miles apart on valuation.

Bloody hell, what a strike by Che Adams for his first Saints goal. We should be safe on 40 points, bar any more terrible goalkeeping cock ups.

I think the quarter time break should remain. It's a good time for a team to regroup and get some advice, along with hydrating. I also like the five subs. Gives more players a shot and can help prevent burnout and injuries.

Of course Sancho is a better player than probably all of that front 3 but if they continue to play like this Solskjaer might be reluctant to change it. Greenwood is going to be fantastic if he continues to develop the way he seems to be, but let's not forget that he only started his seventh game for United this weekend and doesn't even turn 19 for a few months. While he's put in some great performances this season, he's also had games where he's been totally anonymous too and proven that he's far from the finished product yet. Rashford and Martial seem to be becoming more consistent, but both are prone to dips in form. Martial in particular is definitely a confidence player who while being capable of magic when things are going his way such as they are right now, is equally prone to Gallic strops and disappearing acts when things aren't. Sancho on the other hand has quickly become one of the most consistent and productive performers in Europe over the past couple of seasons and looks set to become one of the games genuine superstars. United are also in a position that if one of those front three does get injured or suspended, who is there to take their place? Daniel James has had his moments, but his stock has seemingly dropped as the season has gone on. Juan Mata can play in those positions, but isn't the player he once was and now looks suited to playing a deeper role, while Jesse Lingard is now arguably in a position where he needs to leave to save his career. That only leaves one other player in Tahith Chong, who certainly looks talented, but has yet to produce in first team football.

That only leaves one other player in Tahith Chong, who certainly looks talented, but has yet to produce in first team football. That's the trick. United are in a position where the first 11, when fit and in form, is about as good as any other team in the league, but simply don't have the players in reserve to compete over the course of a full season. Despite keeping 11 clean sheets from the last 16 matches and only conceding a half dozen goals, question marks still remain over the defence - neither pairing of Lindelöf/Maguire or Bailly/Maguire is convincing as long-term solutions, and De Gea has been showing signs over the last 18 months that he has peaked and is on the downward slope. Henderson looks like a potentially great long-term replacement, but could easily go the way of Ben Foster and also struggle to reproduce his loan club for when making the step up.
