Wow! What another great episode. Awesome high flying match to kick off the show. Nice seeing all the LOVE "You Girl's Favorite Wrestler" got from his adopted hometown. Also nice to see more of Kevin Knight. Great first TNA match for Nic Nemeth. This should be a great feud with Maclin. Great promo from Decay. Sad to see Courtney Rush and JesSICKa gone but it's great to have Rosemary and Havok back. MK Ultra ain't playing around. Nice tag team of Dani Luna and Jody but that finisher from MK ULtra caused me to flinch. Damn Frankie wasn't pulling any punches with Rich was?
Match of the Night - Tie between the main event and the Knockouts World Championship match. A six man match that smooth was great and oh yeah; Okada was back in a TNA ring. Forget how big he is until you see him next to someone like Moose. Great match. That Knockouts rematch was awesome. Had me thinking Trinity was about to win back the belt. Physical, technical. Just great all around. Wonder if we're going to get a Trinity/Jordynne tag match against two of the Shawtourage members?
Who was louder outside the ring; Alisha or Ace Austin"
You know Tom is big 98 Degrees fan.
Announcing highlight - Rehwoldt's commentary about Dango during his match.
I don't know what was more surprising, A 98 Degrees reference and band member in attendance in 2024 or Okada showing respect for TNA before the match.
All that tonight and oh yeah; . . . Mustafa Ali is coming to TNA!
And remember, Dirty Dango still hates pro wrestling.

Given that he just gave Okada/Ospreay and Shingo/Moxley five stars…if this gets a formal rating it looks like we might have the third fiver in TNA history. 5.5 and called it the best TNA match ever and MOTY so far. Wasn’t able to catch last night’s show, sounded like a good one. Might have to check out that TNA+ in the future.

Ali updated his upcoming tour schedule through March. It includes all six TNA events in that time period. So he will be in New Orleans for No Surrender and the tapings the next day, Windsor for Sacrifice and the tapings the next day and the two days in Philly that I think are all tv tapings. That’s as far as TNA has dates announced atm

WWE did right by TNA in how they booked Jordynne Grace in the Rumble. Carried over the Trinity story. Pat McAfee put her over big time. They mentioned her beating Naomi for the title (they even referenced Naomi winning that title before Grace even came out). They gave her fun power spots and had her last a good while. She was eliminated in a big spot with a big star (Bianca) before Nia Jax came in to eliminate everyone…which was a real kindness tbh.
Lots of plugs and some nice moments.
It was cool when Mickie did it as KO champ….but she also had a lot of history of her own in WWE. Jordynne coming in without any history there to rep TNA felt a lot cooler IMO.

Combine that with HHH's comments about and thanking TNA and it's great. Compare that to AEW. Commentary during Thicconna's first match on Dynamite did everything NOT to mention TNA or Impact. No mention whatsoever of all she did and championships she won and it was even more glaring when they mentioned what she did in Japan. It's amazing that TNA has a better working relationship with WWE than AEW.

Yeah, something broke at some point (i'm tempted to say after the time the MCMG were wasted as heels in that trios match and Jarrett joined full time), and that forbidden door seems really closed and locked for now.

The only thing that is weird to me with AEW is choosing to ignore Deonna’s history in the company. You don’t need to have any kind of working relationship to put out a fact. And Deonna dominating the Knockouts division for three years is an extremely credible accomplishment that people will understand and know means something. I don’t think anything “happened” between the companies…I just think it’s how they want to operate. AEW has partners in AAA and New Japan and now CMLL and they own ROH….and that is their map of wrestling they want to recognize. It’s just silly in the Deonna case because if you go back to 2020 Kenny Omega was compelled to respond to fans mad they didn’t sign Deonna then. He didn’t do it in a mean way or anything…He wished her well…said he was happy for her…and then asked people to watch AEW’s women’s division and see that they already had a lot of talent. That’s completely fair. But three years later she’s a priority hire with a big push out of the gate. She didn’t change their position by winning the ROH and AAA titles that they did reference. And they don’t want to tell people why she’s a star now she wasn’t then? When it only benefits them (and her) to do so? Seems like an unforced error just to avoid plugging a company you aren’t in bed with to me.
I know it’s a little different because WWE was literally going to trot the KO champion out in a few minutes…but explaining where Naomi had been by telling you she went to TNA and won their world title just sounded impressive. Like…remember Naomi? She’s back…and she hasn’t been waiting by the phone. She went to this other company and dominated. Way better than how AEW tried to talk around Deonna’s accomplishments.
Other than the Deonna thing…yeah do what you want to do. It’s not isolationist like WWE was forever because they have their hands in companies all over. I just hate when companies limit their characters and storytelling because they don’t want to acknowledge anything outside of the world they built. The casual viewer won’t care or notice. It’s a personal pet peeve.

Absolutely crushed her run. Happy to see her back in WWE on her terms having proven to everyone she has more than they thought last time. Also doesn’t hurt to have someone as liked as Naomi able to tell future releases, especially women, that TNA is a great atmosphere and a place to consider.

PWInsider said that HHH had the idea to ask TNA for Grace, wanting to have a surprise that was out of the box. They said WWE called and TNA was easy to work with and it came together quickly. It was previously reported that this was a bit different than the Mickie James appearance which they wanted for a nostalgia pop…but she was never under an actual TNA contract…just verbal agreements. Since she was the KO champion at the time the two companies had to work out details because she wanted to do it but wasn’t going to just walk onto WWE tv while being champion in Impact. Which is how the bringing the belt out and being announced as KO champion came about. With Jordynne, HHH’s idea was to specifically bring in TNA’s women’s champion as the surprise. PWInsider says Grace blew a lot of people away.

Jordynne did a lot of media this week talking about the Rumble. My favorite anecdote was about her elimination. She asked Bianca if she had ever done her finish on the ring apron before and she said no…so they asked if they could do it and the agent or whoever asked Jordynne if she was sure she wanted to take it….and she replied “ I would do this in front of 500 people…I’m doing it in front of 50,000”.
She also said that they couldn’t get it right in practice at the PC before hand because the apron is shorter on the pracitce ring. They were told to do it if they felt comfortable but to do something else if they didn’t. She said she told Bianca if they got out there and there wasn’t enough room to just drop her all the way to the floor. Which is nuts. But of course they nailed it live.
Said she didn’t tell anyone except her husband…not even Naomi. They all found out when she showed up at practice Thursday. Said it was funny because she had been texting Naomi about how excited she was to see her in the Rumble and knew that she would be there too and didn’t tell her lol.
She talked a lot about how important it was to her to represent the Knockouts well. Which is part of why she would’ve face planted all the way to the floor on the elimination if she had to. Said all the women in the match made her look great and everyone was really nice…which as not just an outsider but someone actively working elsewhere meant a lot to her. What meant most was the crowd reaction when she faced off with Naomi. Said she was so happy that people knew it was a moment…because it’s a moment that wasn’t happening in WWE…it was in Impact/TNA but they knew the history.

On a different note that I forgot to post after last week’s Impact…I loved the story that commentary told about Maclin/Nemeth. Maclin as the gatekeeper against incoming ex-WWE guys is perfect. Nemeth came in talking about wanting to earn a title match…but he comes in with the big fanfare and treated like a star. Maclin legit came in as nothing and worked his way from the very bottom all the way to World Champion…and now he sees a guy talking about doing it while getting the star treatment. Someone who will get picked before him because of his name…even with Maclin’s accomplishment.
It’s perfect. It’s a tremendous use of Maclin’s history. He walked the walk that Nemeth is trying to talk…except it he really did start at the bottom. His name meant nothing when he showed up. Maybe less than nothing.
That’s my kind of wrestling story.
