I had agreed with Brad and Dante a while ago that I would host the women's version of the G1 Climax-type tournament this year right after the men's one from this year ended. (Congratulations to @babaganoush for winning that, btw.) Anyway, here it is, sign-ups are officially open for The Women's FAN-1 Climax Tournament of 2019!
Here now I'll lay out the ground rules for this competition, which by the way will differ slightly:
- The format won't be in the standard G1 format exactly. It will play out more like the 16-game season of the NFL, a format I've always wanted to try out in wrestling simulation form.
- Everyone will fight 16 matches of round robin action instead of the 9 for the G1s, and there might be more than 2 groups depending on how many people sign up. Also there might be matches between wrestlers of different groups, as is in the NFL.
- There will be an extended playoffs, more than just 2 people will be eligible to fight for the championship at the end. (I actually had decided this before the things that transpired in the Men's G1 (those being the lamentations of some being out of contention very early in that one) so it somehow works out more beautifully that I had thought. A more playoff-y system will keep more wrestlers' championship hopes alive, I would think.)
- I will determine the exact format once the cast is finalized and I know the exact number of competitors, so that I know how many divisions to put together so that all the divisions can be of even numbers. Division placement of wrestlers will be randomized completely, most likely.
- This will be run on Fire Pro Wrestling World (PC Steam version).
- I won't be uploading every single match, but I'll be recording them all to my own hard drive and I may put together a clip video every round which will contain the final moments of every match. At worst, you'll get screenshots of the results of all the matches.
- Tie-breaker rules for the playoffs will be finalized before the season starts. (Criticals will count towards one of the tie-breakers as opposed to counting for more points in the standings.)
- I'm not sure yet if I'll sign up myself. Most likely only in the case of making the divisions of even numbers.
- There WILL be a for real prize for the winner at the end. Most likely a gift card code worth $5 or $10, perhaps something else on top of all that.
There won't be any official 'defending champion' going into this since the previous Women's FAN-1 to actually crown a champion took place 2 years ago, and on a completely different game (WWE 2K17). So this is more or less starting fresh, a Women's FAN-1 reboot if you will. The only way I might do the whole 'title belt that gets defended every week of the season for a possible points bonus' would be where that initial champion is determined with some pre-season battle royal or something, that won't count towards the win-loss record officially, they just get to hold the belt for now. (So don't pick Alexa Bliss (the winner of the previous Women's FAN-1) for that specific reason, because she won't be getting any automatic bonus going into the season, unless she happens to win the pre-season battle royal.) Again, technically this is a fresh start, the only upper hand being given to the FAN user who just won the Men's FAN-1 (there's a reason why I tagged him instead of just simply mentioning him.)
I think I covered all the rules. I'll recap and finalize everything once again before the competition starts. I want to strive for equal footing for all the wrestlers from the get-go. I'm open to questions and even rule suggestions before this begins.
I'm also open to working with Gecko for any official graphics if he wants.
All you need to do now is sign up and choose your character. Pick one (1) women's wrestler from any point in pro wrestling history. As long as they are available for selection in FPWW for PC Steam, they will be your fighter for this competition. I hope to begin running all this very early in September, ideally right on September 1.
