I think AEW should find their own " voice" but wcw+ wwe best hits should bring some fans They have Excalibur. He's been the anchor so to speak. Sitting next to JR just makes him seem legit. I know they're both pros, but still kinda surprised they have decent chemistry.

I like Schiavone. I like Ross. I like Excalibur. I do not want to listen to all three of them in the booth at the same time.

Don't stop now! We can make this work. Is Doug Dillinger still alive???
Tony was actually one of my biggest reasons for watching MLW, so hin being in AEW makes me mark out like a motherf***er.

Not sure that team would ever all be at the booth at the same time, given Tony's also got a sports announcing gig, doesn't he? So, guessing they'd probably work around that in some capacity, or they might be using him in a similar role to how they've done for some of the videos so far.

Pre-Nitro Schiavone was great in both NWA/WCW and WWF. Hopefully, he can still tap into that. He was more this style in MLW so yes he can still be really good.

Another scenario could be that hour one could have Excaliber and Tony and hour two could have Excaliber and JR just to prevent tiredness and have diverse voices in the booth. And I get the idea of having their own voice to an extent but I'll put it like this; if Clive Tyldsley, one of the most well known voices in English football, was to leave ITV and Sky, BBC and BT Sport weren't jumping over themselves to try and sign him to their side having called several big moments, they'd be foolish. He might not be everyone's favourite but his experience would add to any broadcast table.

Good for him, I always thought he got a bad rap over the years.

Good for him, I always thought he got a bad rap over the years. He did, but I think history has been relatively kind to him, especially as more of WCW's dysfunctional dirty laundry got aired, so it put a lot of it in perspective. Not going to say he never did bad commentary, of course he did at times, but he was also put into pretty impossible situations sometimes.

Very happy for Tony, without question.

That’s awesome. I’m happy for Tony and I’m looking forward to hearing him call wrestling on television again. He kind of bridges the end of WCW to the beginning of AEW on TNT so that’s pretty cool.
I’ve heard a few negative things about Court now. He doesn’t seem as easy going as I thought he was. Maybe he’s losing it a bit since AEW is already taking attention and interest away from MLW. Idk.

I'm curious if Tony still has the gig with the Gwinnett Stripers radio broadcast.
That's a baseball team, by the way.

Man, that's awesome. I've always liked Schiavone. It kinda sucked to hear in his podcast how happy he was to go do short interviews at WWE knowing that they'd never hire him for anything more than one-offs. It's nice that he has somewhere significant to go that wanted him, and that provides a bit of nostalgia and is again linking AEW with WCW.

If I remember correctly, Tony and Conrad more or less hinted at this earlier in the year on one of their shows. Guess they were just waiting for the timing to be right.

As long as he focuses on the match at hand there is none better face announcer.

Huh, I thought this was already a thing months ago for some reason. No he did a video for them promoting a show, Court Bauer was furious with him and publicly dressed him down on Twitter. I'm guessing Schiavone has left MLW. Jeez, you think Bauer would know better. Schiavone really isn’t the kind of guy Bauer should be dressing down in 2019. He has some name value and a recognizable voice that has been calling matches for decades. You know things that MLW could/has tremendously benefit from. The only thing I can think of is that Bauer saw the writing on the wall and preemptively tried to distance his brand from Tony.

Next MLW show is going to be cancelled after AEW signs all the talent booked during their entrances.

If you said to me after All In that in 2019, one of the best broadcasting teams would be a SolCal retired masked wrestler whose spent most of his career calling matches in a community hall and a legend of the industry who basically sleepwalked through some of the best matches from Japan in the last couple of years, I'd counter that by telling you I had a bridge in Brooklyn for sale for cheap.

I’m so happy about this. Tony Schiavone is extremely underrated and so much better than anyone they currently have.
