PWInsider is reporting that Tony will be doing both MLW and AEW. Court Bauer was probably upset that he didn't know about the Control Center appearance ahead of time, but it looks like things are smoothed over. Also why MJF can work both - Court will use the guys on TNT to attract eyeballs to his show on BeIn as he builds up new talent for his company. www.pwinsider.com/article/128886/tony-schiavone-heading-to-aew.html?p=1

Schiavone will also be a help on the production side. This is a good get for AEW!

Schiavone will also be a help on the production side. This is a good get for AEW! If he's able to take over production duties somewhat from Khan, Cody or the Bucks, it could be really worth it long term. They need someone to take the pressure away from them in that regard.

Unless Tony and MJF have some kind of contract stops with MLW that prevent them from leaving I don’t see how this could benefit AEW much. It is great for Tony and MJF though and gives AEW the image of being flexible so good for them.

I'm thankful he's able to work both, he just barely came back to MLW and I don't want them to have to sub Cornette in again. didn't he do something for the WWE Network or want to...or am I misremembering? He wanted to and got in contact with them to ask, but got turned down. Kevin Dunn was also an asshole to him about it.

The biggest benefit AEW gets out of this is positive PR for being accommodating to a smaller company in the wake of some blowback of pulling their contracted talent out of smaller indy shows. Could also be the building blocks for a more formal partnership between AEW and MLW.

It is great for Tony and MJF though and gives AEW the image of being flexible so good for them. MLW had them under contract and they're letting them work for AEW so long as they fulfill their MLW dates. MLW usually has events on Saturdays now while AEW is mostly on Wednesdays with the occasional PPV or house show, so there's ample time for talent to work both.

In my opinion, the best to ever do it as a wrestling play by play guy. Nice pick up for AEW.

It's like they're actively hiring people to keep me from watching at times.
It makes good sense though for all reasons already stated and the fact the Conrad stuff has buzz around it too.

Next, they'll hire Joey Styles and make it a Ross/Schiavone/Styles 3-man booth. OH MY GOD!, I hope not. fixed.

I think AEW should find their own " voice" but wcw+ wwe best hits should bring some fans I feel some sort of familiarity at launch is critical for them. This is a great move IMO. Once AEW is more established they can work their own announcers in more until they are established.

The press release they issued confirms that the commentary team for the TNT show will be JR, Excalibur and Schiavone. Sounds top notch to me.

Tony, I feel, got a bit of an unfair bad rep as a WCW announcer. I know it's easy (and funny) to dunk on him for the "greatest night in the history of our sport" stuff, but his commentary was pretty good and he was at least enthusiastic and engaged the in-ring action as good as he could.

Tony was a fine announcer. He gave up at the end of WCW, but who wouldn't?
