Brandi got tossed like it was nothing, Kenny lost, the Bucks might be dead, and Page lost. Meanwhile Cody forever associated himself with Star Trek Voyager and scared the shit out of his dog, but at least he won.
Just goes to show that Cody should ditch them and exclusively associate with his new BFF Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

So clearly Marty has the worst night. There is, in fact, no Marty Party on this night. Plus all his friends are still dead. So that sucks too.

Good. My biggest worry since AEW was announced was that'd just wind up as a vanity project for these guys to put themselves over. If this is really going to emerge as a serious threat to WWE the way we're all hoping, they're going to have to be willing to let themselves look bad when it'll make for a better story.

I never got that worried. Especially when it came to Omega and Bucks, they seem to value friends and know they can`t be the center of attentions at all times. Cody biggest vanity project really is his fancy ass entrances

They've been doing good about that so far. Bucks were a bit insufferable for a bit, but they did still lose when it mattered.

What I like is that the Bucks didn't just go down, they went down with absolutely destructive vengeance for a disrespect spot that got an arena full of Bucks fans booing the hell out of them. I love the idea that when they do finally go down for the Lucha Bros on their home turf, it's after being pushed so far that the cheapest heel tactic possible was not only pulled off, but ended up driving an even more brutal death. I know some people want The Elite to settle on a consistent alignment already but I think having them play up different aspects and keep flexible can work well if the rest of the roster around them settle into firmer roles, and the ways that their own missteps and egos cost them things in different ways really only makes that better.

Honestly the only person that should've lost didn't. Could've built Spears and Tully a hot heel pair going into TV, instead they blew the payoff early and killed any momentum he could've had.
They had a great story being told with Tully being the Ace up Spears' sleeve and outsmarting both Cody and MJF out there, but they blew that load early by having AA intervene in the first matchup between the two.
Cody got his payback for the attack. Now what? Arn and Tully have a better feud started between them compared to Cody/Shawn at this point.
At least if the Bucks won, they'd have gone back to AAA to drop the belts, and Pac winning over Omega does nobody any good unless he's legit coming back to the company. AEW doesn't need to be "The Elite and Friends," but Cody being the only one with an undefeated streak in the company just sits wrong with me.

I can see Cody being the first challenger for Jericho's title and probably taking the L there. The Bucks losing was fine, Lucha Bros need to get over more plus they were more the faces in that feud and needed the win. Omega losing was fine. He'll get to the tipping point one day and get more serious and focused. Thought it was a well booked night overall.

Honestly, I think Cody winning makes a lot of sense in that sure, Shawn winning would have been good for him, but this seems like it was ultimately as much in the service of the Cody vs MJF feud that's inevitable, and Shawn did still lose after getting spinebustered, so it's not like they didn't protect him. He also got to get some great meanstreak spots in like the belt to the face.

Considering everything that happened, yeah, Cody winning makes sense. Doubt they'd be able to keep something like that going beyond All Out much anyway and like Mozenrath said, it's all really in service for clips to use when MJF inevitably and finally hits Cody with the chair to seal his (further) heel turn.

Right. Like, I don't think Spears is going to drop off the face of the planet or anything. He's still one of the few bonafide, clear as crystal heels that they have, and still obviously higher tier than a Sammy Guevara. He'll for sure be getting use, and even if he lost, he can probably look at it as still getting his point across that he can't be counted out as a talent.

It was a lot of fun as a match, too so I'm happy to see what he can do outside of that setting.

at the rate maybe they should start calling themselves "the below average" then. that should be their gimmick from now on, their faction name change based off their last PPV performance. they all win they're the "elite" again til the next PPV, they all lose and they're the "Losers" and so forth
