Than Alex Marvez, it was like night and day listening to him in there. JR didn't seem to fluster him as often as he did with Alex and overall it feels like a solid switch. Hoping he continues to work the PPVs in the future.

I hate to say it but JR is the weak link. I'd rotate him and Schiavone every so often.

I'm willing to bet in a year or so, it'll just be Excalibur and Goldenboy in the booth, with a yet-unknown third to fill the last chair. ...I know it's a joke, but CM Punk would be a good fit as the heelish former wrestler-turned-commentator for this spot.

I thought all three of them were great, I dunno.
Goldenboy did a great job.

Goldenboy is pretty much the closest to an ideal announcer for me. The cadence of his voice, the fact he tries to go along with the story telling of the match while being razor sharp with the play-by-play action. And I like his dynamic with JR. I think they compliment one another well, Goldenboy does a lot of the heavy lifting but JRs still alright at catching the over-arching story or knowing when to let the match breathe. Even Excalibur who’s the weak link for me, gelled perfectly with them as sort of casual eye of the three.

Goldenboy was phenomenal at Fyter Fest. Was really happy to see him back at All Out last night.

AEW's commentary roster is absolutely stacked and I'm so so glad that they're promptly phasing Marvez out.

Goldenboy was excellent. He’s exactly the sort of guy I’ve been saying the need from the start. Excalibur as the ex wrestler colour guy, Schiavone or JR as the familiar voice who helps get over the story, and an unknown as the lead guy who steers the ship. The commentary was awesome at All Out

I never really heard his eSports commentary so I can't make a direct comparison but I just love how knowledgable he is and he sounds like a real pro which, again, makes sense because that's what he does for a living.

To put it in UFC terms, Goldenboy is Anik, JR is Rogan and Ex is DC/Dom

I think Goldenboy will eventually take over the shows full time.
Because lets be honest I don't know for how long JR and Tony will be able to do it. But they may be their "defining" voice. Like Tony was for ECW and Cole for current WWE he will be the voice that defines the company's identity

Like Tony was for ECW and Cole for current WWE he will be the voice that defines the company's identity For his part, JR's been pretty adamant about wanting to be part of the action, and says when asked what he'll do when his 2-3 year contract is up, he replies that he'll try to get renewed. I think with Jan Ross dead, he doesn't want to be retiring to an empty house, and wants to do this as long as he physically can do it. Tony's got the sports commitments, but I'd like to see him do shows sometimes, if only to help his whole redemption arc he's had with wrestling fans come to completion.

Esports are actually a great place to pull a wrestling commentator from, because they demand a lot of the same sorts of skills you'd need in wrestling. Explaining the techniques and mechanics of a game while also calling the action is a big part of calling video games, and like with wrestling, big shit will happen very much out of nowhere mid-stream so you have to keep concise and snappy with it, and know when to come off the fluff to call what's happening. It's a very transferable skill set, and I think he's doing a great job proving it.
That said, every time they cut to Alex Marvez he looks like there is a man in a tuxedo and an eyepatch just behind the camera who's mouthing the names of his family members and licking a knife, and that counts for something.

The commentary was the unsung hero of All Out.
It's nice to be able to listen to commentary that CALL THE MATCHES, and DON'T BICKER because Vince thinks it's funny.
Goldenboy was a huge improvement to Marvez, who I think is good in his own way, and excels in their pretapes on YouTube.
I was genuinely shocked to learn that Goldenboy came from epsorts, because he knew his shit, and gelled with the other two seamlessly.
I also agree with some others that JR is the weak link in the team now. He harps on things that just aren't necessary, or detracts from the competitors. Of the three he got on my nerves the most. It's not nearly as bad as his New Japan run which was god awful in every way, but glimpses of it shine through.
