according to Meltzer, I was listening to his All Out review and he mentions how people will compare ratings but that what will define success will be how much money AEW/WWE can get from sponsor. Which I think is an interesting point.
And while AEW had an interesting use of sponsorship it is still hard to get the same level of sponsors WWE gets.

Unless the ratings are close, because then it will be about ratings.

Ratings are certainly not a non-factor, but yeah, the quality of the ads matters a lot, since a quality sponsor pays much, much more than if it's just crap.

It's all connected. Higher ratings = higher ad rates networks can charge as more eyeballs are on their programs and thus will see their ads. Television ratings as we know them are used mostly for advertising purposes. It's also why the 18-49 demographic is so coveted because they spend more money than any other age group.
Only time where there isn't a correlation between ratings and what sponsors are willing to sponsor/pay for ad space is when you have a massive controversy like the host of an otherwise highly rated program saying racist or sexist things, for example.

Yes but I the subject came up because of the Crackle Barrel match and the exposure the product got. And that advertising is more TARGETED today so that can help with godo advertisers without having the same numbers According to Maltzer they were talking with sponsors ,through TNT that it will be a different wrestling ,not embarassing wrestling.

The Cracker Barrel stuff was interesting to me as a concept of sponsorship because it wasn't so much as a sponsor doing something just to be on a show, it was a part of the show. My concern about it was that it was going to be this safer tamer thing that took away from the action...and then Jimmy Havoc got a staple gun and stapled his chest and that's when you realise "Oh ok, they literally just named the match".
And then Darby died for our sins again on top of a literal barrel.

18-49 demo is more important than total viewers

18-49 is quite a hell of a range.
