Here's a good one considering how much discussion he gets on the board.
What if David Otunga was never chosen for NXT 1?I remember that a "leaked" Season 1 list had Kaval on it, so let's put him in instead with say, Carlito as his Pro (Tarver will get R-Truth). Carlito, not giving a rat's ass, doesn't teach Kaval a thing, and only cares when Kaval loses (more often than not, but not as much as Bryan). Coles hates on him as much as he does Bryan for being an Internet favourite. Eventually, he gets eliminated in 5th, ahead of Young, Bryan and Tarver, but behind Sheffield, Slater, Gabriel and the winner Barrett.
Then The Nexus debuts. Same as what actually happened, but instead of Bryan choking Justin Roberts with a tie, Kaval gives him the Warrior's Way from the barricade. Bryan never gets fired and stays in The Nexus. Barrett states only one thing as their bigger picture; To destroy WWE from the inside out. SummerSlam comes around, with The Nexus (Barrett, Bryan, Kaval, Gabriel, Slater, Sheffield, Young and Tarver) vs Team WWE (Cena, Edge, Jericho, Punk, Big Show, Morrison, Miz and Steamboat, who never had his serious head injury). The final 6 in the match are Cena, Miz and Jericho vs Barrett, Bryan and Kaval. Miz and Jericho walk leaving Cena all alone. Kaval goes for the Tree Of Woe Warrior's Way, but Cena evades and makes him tap in the STF. No shame in that after a gruelling match. Then Bryan comes in, kicks Cena's f***ing head in and pins him 1-2-3. Nexus wins, interweb explodes and Cena gets taken out on a stretcher again. This time, they have no idea when he's coming back.
Night Of Champions comes around, and Barrett gets his NXT title shot in a 6-Pack Challenge (Orton, Sheamus, Edge, Jericho, Miz (not using his MITB briefcase) and Barrett), while Bryan and Kaval get a tag title shot versus The Hart Dynasty. Skip Sheffield never breaks his ankle in Hawaii, and as the revelation of the group, gets a US Championship match against R-Truth. It's a clean sweep for The Nexus as they win all the male RAW titles. The bigger picture is half-fulfilled.
Now for the other half. Using Bryan and Kaval's tag title privileges, The Nexus start laying waste to SmackDown too, leading to Justin Gabriel winning the Intercontinental Championship. And they don't forget their old home of NXT, destroying the Season 2 rookies (including one David "A-List" Otunga) and their Pros one week. Here, Young starts to show remorse and on the next RAW, they beat him down and boot him out of the group. Eventually, he links up with Percy Watson and they form the SoBe Party Boys team.
Hell in a Cell comes around and Barrett defends the WWE Championship against Orton in the Cell. Barrett wins when The Nexus storm the Cell and lay waste to Orton, including a Warrior's Way on a steel chair in Orton's face by Kaval, and Bryan putting him in the LeBell Lock until he passes out. Nexus stands tall again.
But cracks are starting to show, and WWE starts to fight back. The IC title is lost when Christian defeats Gabriel in a cage match. The tag titles are lost at Bragging Rights to The SoBe Party Boys when Orton distracts Bryan and Kaval, who gets hit with Watson's Showtime DDT. Finally, the week before Survivor Series on the old-school RAW, Barrett loses the WWE Championship to the returning John Cena.
This leads to an epic encounter. Barrett, Bryan, Kaval, Gabriel, Slater, Sheffield and Tarver vs Cena, Undertaker, Orton, Kane, Mysterio, Edge and, taking the call to save WWE in it's time of need, Shawn Michaels, in a WarGames match at Survivor Series. Stipulations state that depending on who wins, either Nexus breaks up or Team WWE is out of a job (except for HBK, who is there for one night only anyway). The match is a 45-minute epic, and finally ends when The Undertaker plants Barrett with a Tombstone on a steel chair to win the match and save WWE.
The months-long war between WWE and The Nexus is over at last.
After that, they scatter all over the place:
*Barrett becomes a fixture of the main event scene on RAW.
*Bryan turns face and wins the US title from Sheffield at TLC. His matches are the highlight of every RAW, and even Michael Cole is starting to warm up to the guy...
*Gabriel turns face go to SmackDown and puts on TV classic matches in the IC division every week with the likes of Christian, Kingston, Ziggler, Swagger, Rhodes and NXT 2 winner Seth Rollins, forming a critically acclaimed SmackDown Seven.
*After losing the US title, Sheffield links up with Ezekiel Jackson, who under William Regal's tutelage, form a new Ruthless Roundtable as part of a revitalised tag division with The Hart Dynasty, The SoBe Party Boys, Marella/Kozlov, The Uso Brothers, The Dudebusters, The Society (Mercury and Gallows, but not associated with Punk), Hawkins/Archer and The Rotundo Brothers (NXT 2 alumni "Lanky" Bo and "Husky" Duke).
*Slater and Tarver, not bringing much to the table on their own, hang around RAW as jobbers to the stars.
*Kaval does eventually leave WWE burned out with the schedule, but with his name value at an all-time high after The Nexus angle, he can basically name his price on the indy circuit.
And what of David Otunga? Well, he's FCW Tag Team Champions with Titus O'Neill.
