Bad PR in that you gave an appaling contract to a guy, in which you can keep him for 2 years and not pay him because its per appearance. And are now no longer using him and are going to keep him in limbo for the next two years.
Also, not understanding what a 6 figure deal generally means.
$80K for 5 or 6 days a month for a year? Count me in! Kross f***ed up, and PWInsider have exposed him for being greedy. If Impact released him it would set a bad precedent to other wrestlers. Kross is not worth the six figures he is after.
80K which you won't see until year 3 of year deal How is that greedy?

Yea, this is pretty dumb. Release the man and get it over with.
A six figure deal that isn't actually a six figure deal. F*** off. They played themselves with letting that get out there and trying to act like he is bring unreasonable.

Also, I'm not saying Kross is 100% in the right here but if you're expecting me to feel any sorry or defensive for a company that makes $5m a year annually...that ain't happening.

If you said something like 65k, 80k, and then 100k I can see that being more reasonable. If gives you a goal to work towards and you'll be able to live more comfortably in year 2 but that previous offer is a dud. Kross is still 100% in the wrong for making this public BUT now with this going on and they are making an example out of him because of this while telling about a contract that is basically nothing, why is Impact risking all this bad vibes for a guy they aren't even going to use Cut him and let him see if he is as valuable as he thinks he is but them trying to act like they are doing him a favor and then drag his name in the mud is dumb

At the end of the day if you aren't going to use him then why are you making such a big deal out of this. Cut him and let him test his worth

Since the very introduction of talent contracts in wrestling, promoters have let go of people when they couldn't come to terms and there was a disagreement. Releasing someone isn't going to set a bad precedent it's literally what releasing people is for. "Try to wring our arm on money and go public with it, and we'll cut you off" is a perfectly fair show of power that has worked forever. Everything else you're saying doesn't even feel like it's in the same thread for how little connective tissue it feels like there is to the situation.

Also the fact that they are trying to start his new deal at 40k should tell you how low his current deal is now

Sting was making half a million per year and that was because Spike was paying his salary. Can anthem really afford that with the shape the company is in? If they’re rebuilding that’s too much money for one talent.

If they’re rebuilding that’s too much money for one talent. And TNA didn't want that on their books because it would have put them even more in the red. Same with WCW having guys like Hogan and such not actually being paid by WCW They can afford it if they increased the budget but they aren't going to do that

And the deal I said still isn't all that great but it is reasonable. You're still not paying him 6 figures but it is a livable wage and come year 2 he's sitting better. They are dragging this along though. Either pay him out for one year or release him. Say something like we will give you 85k and for a year and if he turns it down then time to move on but no matter the scenario he still isn't touching 100k until the final year of his deal and waiting 3 years for that is a lot They are trying to get over by adding that extra year and a half when he only has 1.5 left. Even if you paid him 125k as a total for the 18 months that is still like 62.5 if you dividing the contract by half which isn't something that will break their bank

I mean where Impact is in the wrong is in either not booking him or not just releasing him. It seems like they are willing to negotiate a better deal but Kross isnt accepting it.
I'd be curious to know what he wants what he signed for and go from there

At this point it could just be irreconcilable differences and Kross just wants to move on with his life even if Impact threw money at him. He'll have to deal with any consequences for his own unprofessional behavior in the near future, but Impact's still doing some Dixie-ass shit here. Given how tight a lot of the wrestling community can be, essentially holding his career hostage could make other wrestlers much less likely to sign there even if WWE and AEW aren't options.
It's cutting off your nose to spite your face. Releasing him would save a bunch of headaches for them instead of this petty "teaching him a lesson" garbage.

I mean where Impact is in the wrong is in either not booking him or not just releasing him. It seems like they are willing to negotiate a better deal but Kross isnt accepting it. I'd be curious to know what he wants what he signed for and go from there Define "better" The first deal reported is 40K for the year and then 65k. That's still nothing. Think about it from the perspective that his deal is so poor now that impact thinks giving him 40k for the year is an upgrade He's saying he wants a better deal and i'm assuming something about the 75k range. I'm assuming he's harping on being close to 6 figures but no way is he getting that right now. As I said something along 125k for the rest of his 18 month contract or 60,85,100k over a 3 year deal is reasonable. Impact is in the wrong because they pay him per appearance. So he's complaining about money and not making any because they aren't using him which is now two tapings. Add on the fact they put his merch in the clearance bin. That is trying to punish a guy while also trying to say you are going to negotiate in good faith when it doesn't come across that way. They were within their right to say no and say show up to work or we take you to court. But they are dragging it and for all of this, why would someone else in the future want to sign on a small deal and then see how they react when your name becomes bigger and you want a little more pay As I said Kross was wrong for making it public but at the end of the day, Impact is paying him peanuts so why create this headache for someone you can use that money for. Kross would have been hurt by negativity if Impact cut him after that stunt but now he is getting more public opinion on his side because this is a bit of overkill. They let go of Scarlett because she wasn't paid anything but held on to Kross

I hate to make this comparison, but think about how Impact has handled this situation to how WWE handled their situation with the Revival. Revival were upset and wanted out. Things didn't play out like this in the media and people being petty. WWE didn't keep them off TV and put their merchandise into the clearance bin. Both sides sat down and talked it out and now Dash and Dawson are in a great position and are being elevated by being paired with Orton.

BTW, $40k as a full-time salary is only a few bucks more per hour over minimum wage in some parts of the country ($19.20~ or so per hour; minimum wage is $15/hour in some parts of the country). And then you take out income taxes and it's even less.

He was under contract specifically to WCW and his pay came from WCW's budget.
