Wrestling Inc. can confirm that top MMA promotion Bellator has offered former Impact X-Division and WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins a chance to fight for the promotion. We are told that the initial timeline offered to Perkins for the fight was too short, but conversations are on-going. Bellator was hoping to land Perkins for a fight in November. Currently the two sides are discussing logistics such as pay and the weight class that he would fight at. The weight Bellator wanted Perkins to fight at was reportedly too high for him. From what we know, a deal is still far from being made. www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/09/exclusive-bellator-mma-makes-offer-to-impact-wrestling-star-659423/

The only contract negotiation in MMA history to be entirely discussed via Reddit thread.

Pet wiki he has training at “boxing, martial arts, and catch wrestling”, but that he started at 18, and he started wrestling at 13.
So, basically he sounds like the next CM Punk in the sense of some light combat sports training in between wrestling matches making him think he’s a legit hardass.

I don't think either man thinks they are bad-asses. But it is a fun experience for then that gives money and exposure.

I totally understand what you're saying but is the exposure and money worth the brain trauma and embarrassment that come with it? If he gets completely embarrassed it could affect his wrestling bookings going forward.

Probably yeh I don't know how much more dangerous one fight is compared to a month of wrestling booking but the payoff for one fight is probably better than for many booking dates

So, basically he sounds like the next CM Punk in the sense of some combat sports training in between wrestling matches making him think he’s a legit hardass. I could totally see that. Also, that WWE tenure didn’t do him too well. Despite being the winner of the much hyped Cruiserweight Classic and the first Cruiserweight Champ of the current belt he is still associated more with TNA. It’s not like he was ever pushed that hard there or was a big deal at the company’s peak. He was revealed as Suicide, had a decent push in the X Division for a while, and was part of a Dixie vanity moment when they aired him signing his contract with her. Other than that Bellator is not UFC. They need marketable names and while UFC has been warming up to freak show fights and gimmicky crap, Bellator has long embraced it. I don’t see them putting him in there with a legitimate prospect like Mickey Gall. I don’t even think Perkins’ first opponent would have the credibility of MMA photographer/CM Punk beater Mike Jackson. It’ll be a guy they pretty much pick off the street like who they’ve been feeding to Jack Swagger, but at the appropriate weight division.

Well might as give it a go as there is no way he can do worse than CM Punk.

TJ’ll be given a complete can who can barely stand upright
