I need good questions.
I don't want to ask about Owen.
I did on planning about the war games or how the rumble is booked.
What I'm asking is. What would you guys ask?

Is this like a meet and greet/autograph signing thing? If so, I honestly wouldn’t plan on asking them any questions like that. If you have never been at any event like that, you really don’t have time to ask any questions like that. You are herded through pretty quickly, especially if there is a line of people and it is busy. You pretty much have time to tell them “thanks for the memories” and that’s it.
Also, let it be known that Bret Hart does the bare minimum at these things. I met him at Wrestlecon in New Orleans and he didn’t speak a word when I spoke to him. I asked him if he could personalize the autograph and he looked at me like I had just asked him to borrow a million dollars and absolutely did not personalize it. He also had a look on his face like he wanted to shoot himself in the pic we took. Also, I have heard similar experiences from others when meeting him at these things. It was awesome to get to meet him, as he is obviously one of the goats as well as one of my all time favorites, but the experience was ultimately kind of disappointing thanks to his demeanor.
I met Animal at Wrestlecon in Orlando and it was a much cooler experience. Got to take a pic wearing Road Warrior shoulder pads, and he really hammed it up in the pic. He was super friendly too, asked where I was from, said he was just there. But, definitely didn’t have the time to ask him how War Games are booked or anything like that.
I did, however meet Kurt Angle at Sharkcon. After getting an autograph and pic, I walked back over to his table when there was no one there (it wasn’t a wrestling event, so he wasn’t very busy) and asked him who he really wanted for his last match at Mania, and he gave me a cool story on that. I think it did help I was with my girl, who he had pretty much straight up said he found very attractive when I first met him, so you might get more mileage if you are with a woman.
If these aren’t just meet and greets and actual QnA sessions, I apologize for the post.

Animal will be a lot easier to get a conversation out of, his lines are usually just walk up a few fans at a time.
It's possible to get a short conversation out of Bret but it's hard. The wrestlers have heard all the wrestling questions possible, you will need to think of something they most likely have never been asked before by a fan or in a shoot. His family played a prominent role in many of his storylines in WWF but that's a topic not as often asked by fans, IMO.
Abjordans, I'm sorry he didn't personalize. He usually is very willing to personalize. I'm not saying you did anything wrong but sometimes the fan has to speak a little louder to try and get someone's attention. For as quiet as Bret is at shows, he most certainly appreciates his fans, he just doesn't seem to know how to show it at autograph shows.
From my experiences at autograph shows, the wrestlers want to speak with their buddies about wrestling related stories. They would rather speak to the fans about general interest, not wrestling. Some will enjoy a conversation about local hot spots in the area or hobbies that they might share with the fan. Good luck, I would enjoy hearing your experiences.

Ask Bret if he can recall himself shooting a dirty look at young Squirrel Master because I was wearing a Road Warriors t-shirt as he spoke on a public pay telephone in the bowels of Madison Square Garden in 1985. He had a black eye, and I had no clue who he was until a half hour later when he took off his sunglasses in the ring.
True story.

I can understand why you may not want to bring up Owen. But for what it is worth, I've read on many occasions that Bret's favorite thing at meet and greets with fans is hearing them say how much they enjoyed his performances.
As far as my question ideas: if he could have a one year run, who are some of the current day guys that he thinks he would most like to work with? Also, who did he wrestle in the past who was a better performer than they got credit for being in his opinion?

I have met Bret twice and am due to threepeat next month when he is in Glasgow. I probably shouldn’t though because every time I meet him there is some form of calamity.
Calamity 1 - New York (well technically New Jersey). This was at WM29 Axxess and I had also met HBK earlier in the day. I had the brain wave of getting both to sign the Bret v Shawn dvd. So I get to the front of the queue and was taken aback to realise that the helper dude who takes the stuff you want signed to the table for them was Tim White. I stopped and shook his hand and said something idiotic like “wow Tim White”. When I looked up Bret was sort of looking at me with disdain for holding up the line for the sake of an impromptu suicidal referee encounter.
As if this wasn’t bad enough, Bret then signed over the top of my fresh HBK signature (which may or may not have been deliberate depending on your view of how “over it” Bret really is). Then the person who had my camera to take a photo (this was when they first started doing professional photos so they recommended you did both) took absolutely forever to take the photo so I was stood like a pleb clinging to Bret’s hand for what felt like an eternity. Then I dropped my water bottle as I was leaving and it rolled backwards towards Bret again. I meekly said “sorry Bret”.
Calamity 2 - New Orleans. This was at Wrestlecon the year of WM30. This time it was the original Hart Foundation I was meeting jointly. Literally when I got to the front of the queue Jim Neidhart’s chair snapped beneath him and he clattered to the floor taking a nasty ass and back bump. So the first thing I had to say when I got to Bret was: “is he ok?” To which Bret replied: “he is too fat for the furniture.” Was a much nicer experience and glad I got to meet the Anvil before he went off to that ring in the clouds. Told Bret his match with Piper was the reason I watch wrestling, and spoke briefly with the Anvil about his bruised ass and the shoddy plastic furniture provided to them.
So yes I should really avoid him, but I am too much of a Bret mark.
Also met Animal in Dallas at the Wrestlecon the year of WM32. He was a bit of a dick to me to be honest because I only had enough money left for a pic with him whilst wearing the LOD spiked shoulder pads when the option was also there to get a combo with Paul Ellering. I think he thought I was slighting Paul when I was actually gutted I didn’t have enough left for both.
Yeah I have too making a fool of myself whilst meeting wrestler stories. Good luck!

I don't think he will truly ever be over it. He was a wrestler who would give any guy the best match he and they could have, a lot of guys can think otherwise but he was close to selfless in his performances. Maybe he had a selfishness about him so by making someone else look good, he would make himself look good but he wrestled so many different guys even if they didn't deserve to be on the same match with him, especially a lot of guys from 1992-1995. In his mind, having Michaels conspire against him to hurt him is something unforgiveable because he, Bret, always tried his best to make a match or storyline work and give the other guy a rub. He probably also sees some of himself in Michaels. Even though Bret started much earlier than him in WWF, they seemed to come into popularity and more fame around the same time while showing bigger fans how great their talents were. He probably sees himself as the selfless guy who worked with others and tried to make the matches better while Michaels was quite selfish and worked to put other talents down and sabotage other's pushes.

It is pretty funny you describe him as “selfless” when explaining why Bret ruined someone’s autograph they just likely paid at least $50 for just to be a dick.

Bret the wrestler was selfless until maybe 1997. Over the last 20+ years a lot of tragedy may have changed him a little which is understandable. Most would become complete recluses from wrestling if they face as much tragedy as Bret has and a lot of it is directly related to the screwjob. Just think of the wrestlers who he was put against on various PPVs or TV shows from 1991-1997 and most of them really didn't deserve the spot. The PPV opponents for example: Skinner, Isaac Yankem, Hakushi, Pierre are the best examples on PPVs while Kwang, Virgil, Berzerker and Kamala on TV. Also Razor Ramon and even Yokozuna weren't really ready for the spot they got in 1993. And even Stone Cold was really just getting started to being the hot attraction he was. A lot had to do with Bret realizing his talent and being willing to work with him and them working so well together it elevated both even better. After all Austin was a much lower card guy less than two years earlier in WWF and wasn't in a major promotion a year prior to Survivor Series (sorry, I don't count 1995 ECW as "major" at the time.)

Bret’s a quiet guy.
When I met him, he shook my hand and asked my name. Signed his book and said “Thank you for reading it”.
He’s just not chatty. I guess that can come across as rude.
As far as smiling in pictures, keep in mind he did have a stroke. In any pic you see of him now, he doesn’t have a huge smile.
