Why did he start teaming with Piper?

I’m not telling you anything that you don’t already know guy? Why did he start teaming with Piper? Supposedly O'Haire couldn't keep a straight face while trying to do the act in front of a live audience and would regularly start corpsing and breaking character at house shows. Depending on who you ask he was either matched up with Piper in hopes that Piper would help him stop this, or they had already given up on the character and just gave him to Piper so he'd have something to do.

Heel Dean Ambrose is one of the quickest examples I've ever seen of something just completely dying within weeks.

On the other hand, that's a really good way of announcing to the crowd that Berlyn's an undercard act, win or lose. Even making Bagwell his first target was probably not the right move if you actually wanted to create a top-level star, but of course anyone high on the card wasn't going to put Berlyn over anyway. I'm in the minority on this because I really liked Berlyn, the presentation, the interpreter, the Secret Service stuff, Alex's performance in the gimmick, and think it deserved more. I question the idea that Duggan never sold for anybody. Granted, it was always big monsters and not bulked-up cruisers like Alex Wright, but he played a huge role in making Yokozuna a top guy, and One Man Gang a top guy in Mid-South. If there was one thing Duggan always knew how to do well, even past his prime, it was sell a beating. It was WCW, he was always going to be a midcard act, at least let him be one who wins and has entertaining matches. I loved the character too, but it'd take a LOT for him to get beyond US title level. Maybe if he constantly told funboys to get a room.

Hit the music: I see that and raise you that weird Seven gimmick he had in WCW, where even in his debut he basically said "screw this."

Heel Dean Ambrose is one of the quickest examples I've ever seen of something just completely dying within weeks. It's funny/sad, because at the time we were all in the RAW threads like "You can just see dude's soul being sucked out of him", and then he went and confirmed it was all true. Like, how do you take a performer fans have loved unconditionally for years and make them so instantly dead in the water? Like, that should take skill and determination to screw something up so badly. And they did it by accident.

I think the Seven gimmick getting squashed was a Standards and Practices deal because of a vignette. The Black Reign thing could've been cool, but Dustin was sadly really far gone at the time.

Mordecai. He was just too green when he debuted.
In TNA, Serotonin. Dutch Mantell didn't understand the gimmick, so he just jobbed them out.

For the record, following his death it was disclosed from a few sources that "couldn't keep a straight face" was a nice let's-not-kick-a-man-when-he's-struggling code for "bombed out of his skull on drugs."

I'll never understand how a woman that beautiful that can actually wrestle didn't become a star in WWE. Was it really just injuries? MONTHS worth of vignettes were just thrown away with one simple promo and it was back to regular ol' Emma after.

Gail Kim in 2003, multiple vignette of her being a Matrix-style reality bending character.
Nothing to show of that character in her battle royal, which is forgivable as there was a sudden change that had to be made on the fly during live TV.
But then shortly later she's tagging with Val Venis and showing absolutely nothing Matrix-esqe.

Kizarny was never going to fly after his intro vignettes. JR and Tazz were burying him on commentary even during his first match.
