I'm going on the upcoming cruise, pretty much because the word of mouth from the first one was pretty positive. Do NOT get the wifi on the cruise. Gigantic waste of money lol I can't stress this enough.

This all sounds like a fate worse than death to me (not the wrestling but everything else basically), but hopefully people have a good time. I feel like cruises had a big moment in the 90s/early 2000s, but you don’t really hear as much about them anymore. My parents went on one every year for 6 or 7 years, but I don’t think they ever did another one after the time there was a bomb threat on their boat (it turned out to be BS). This is pretty much where I am on it. Aside from some of the wrestling, total anathema, but credit for turning a truly dreadful idea into something successful.

I thought this sounded like the dumbest idea Jericho had ever had.
I was very, very wrong.

I’d love to go on the cruise, but it’s hard enough to justify the money for the cruise let alone the travel from bumf*** nowhere Manitoba to Florida. I could buy a nice car for the money I’d have to drop

It made a bit of sense to me at least in theory with how metal cruises are a thing that happen now, but the line-up for the first one seemed so weird and weak with multiple cover acts and obviously Fozzy as the big headliner as opposed to a really solid looking festival line-up but on a boat. Putting it on a cruise ship is honestly an upgrade over a lot of other prestige festivals that have you camping and pissing in a ditch, but here there's wrestling and wrestling podcasts and third string musical acts and comedy. It's so weird and unfocused, but I guess it found its audience somehow. Wrestling fans just be like that. If the first one just broke even, it makes sense when his profile is rising again to try for another one, and it seems like he's got this in the can now, so good. Still the weirdest damn thing to me, but people are getting paid so sure.

Chris got the idea because Fozzy got booked on a KISS cruise. I have to wonder if that happened because Gene and Paul were familiar with Chris from their dealings with WCW. It would kinda awesome if we can rabbit-hole the origin of AEW all the way back to Demon Torberg.

I’m sure many people will enjoy a little bit of the bubbly there, eh? On that note, Ric Flair is among the talent scheduled to appear. Dear God I hope they keep him away from the bar! Among the special guests are Scott Hall and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. A bubbly Jericho cruise with Ric Flair, Scott Hall and Jake Roberts. Well, I can't see that going wrong.

Wasn't the first cruise a major contributing factor in Jericho moving away from WWE? Working for NJPW was a big part of it, but you also had him very annoyed WWE were disinterested in partnering with their NXT folks for the cruise. I wonder how that'd have done, in some alternate world. I imagine it wouldn't have had the same sort of energy to it, and that WWE would have demanded they film some stuff for it, too. Yes. He brought the concept to them, they toyed with him for three months on it, then got the word back that they weren't interested because Vince was freaking out that the roster they sent would get sick on the cruise. Called up ROH and had a deal within a week. If I was Jericho, I would definitely consider that a slap in the face. Especially when you consider how loyal he was to WWE for so long.

If nothing else, stringing him along was bullshit. I'm not expecting it'd be a decision you'd make in an afternoon, but they still could have decided quicker than that and not wasted his time.

It would kinda awesome if we can rabbit-hole the origin of AEW all the way back to Demon Torberg. It's certainly possible. They also were both recurring guests on Opie and Anthony, since Jim Norton's a huge KISS fanboy, but that'd have been after WCW, so it doesn't preclude anything from WCW being how they'd meet, especially with how gregarious Chris is.

There are so many weird and niche cruises that do really well. A wrestling cruise succeeding in the same way wasn't that farfetched. Though I'm surprised it only took one go for it to be successful.

That saved me an assload of money. Besides, I can only imagine how surly some people might get by Day 3.
Really, I can only afford one out-there trip come November and I'm planning on the Indy Eleven winning the USL Championship East so if have an excuse to go to Phoenix and see Arizona.

Jericho retells in book no 4 that Paul Stanley's young son is a massive WWE fan and Jericho is one of his favourites. Jericho video called him on his birthday and sent across presents, which went down well with Paul.

You know, he was our take on a very popular series of pirate movies once, pal. I swear I always knew that too!"
