Still struggling through Lord of the Rings.
War and Peace was easier.
Hell, Cryptonomicon went by faster.

Although that has a lot to do with the endless clones of him every fantasy series feels the need to include.

Currently in the middle of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy. It's amusing to me that you could read that, and then struggle through Lord of the Rings. I forced myself to finish Red Mars over many months, and there's no way I'm subjecting myself to two more of those. Last time I read LOTR (which was, admittedly, 25 years ago) I finished the whole trilogy in a week. Different strokes for different folks. Currently reading the Time Quintet (A Wrinkle in Time, etc) by Madeleine L'Engle.

Had to stop reading the trilogy at night or I would never get to sleep.

I think part of my issue with the LotR books is I read them decades after reading a pile of fantasy novel series that were inspired by them. And Tolken sometimes gave way too much detail on stuff that didn't need that much detail. Oddly I love The Hobbit novel.
For me the best fantasy series I have read is still the first 3 novel series of Dragonlance novels.

I was reading Dune, but taking a break from that to read Stephen Fry's Mythos, Heroes and Troy books. Really easy, enjoyable reads and reignited my interest in Greek mythology.

Stranger in a Strange Land. Filling time with some classic Heinlein. This is his best. The concepts he sets down in this book are so simple and yet true that they still hold up sixty years after he wrote them.

I just spent two days reading Amy Poehler's book "Yes Please." Very funny, very touching. She rules.

I'm currently rereading IDW's "Hasbroverse" in chronological order, at least the good stuff anyway. All the Transformers books, Mike Costa's Cobra stuff, ROM, Micronauts, Action Man, Revolutionaries. Definetly skipping most of the Joe stuff (aside from Costa's stuff it doesn't hold a candle to Hama's ARAH) and for sure skipping that awful MASK series.
