6 months ago I cut way back on saturated fats like cheese and crisps, and meat and replaced them with more fruit and veg. I stopped eating past 8pm (generally go to bed about 11.30-12) and took up running (12 miles a week spread over 3 runs) and a hell of a lot more walking and have lost 45 pounds. First time since my teens I weigh the weight I do now. That's something I've got to fix first and foremost. I work until 8:30 most nights and hit fast food places on the way home too often. I eat decently during the day, but tend to eat the worst shit at the worst times. I was smoking too much weed too, which just opens the floodgates as far as eating everything and anything. I'd get more than I needed at the fast food places because I knew I'd be ready to tear it up after smoking. Drastically cut back on smoking the past couple months though.

Finally got back to the gym last night. I can barely lift my arms. Feels great though.

Stair climber is the ticket. Torches calories in no time, so I can get some good work in before my ADHD wins out.
I'm dying though. Goddamn.

With a few injuries I got I have to watch how I work out.
MOn-I walk at least 4 to 5 miles at night. And since it is up and down hills that adds some resistance. Tues-I try to jog 2 miles. Blew out my left knee when I was in the tail end of my teens. Was told I would never be able to run or jog again. But managed to work up to jogging 2 miles. Wednesday-Either take the canoe and do a few laps from the side of the lake I live on and the other side. Or if it is too cold or rainy I hit the treadmill for at least 8 miles. Thurs-5 mile walk Fri-2 mile jog
I take the weekends off. But try to watch what I eat. Cut down to 2 sixteen ounce sodas a week. And have cut out most of the carbs from my diet.
I am sure if I added more exercise I could finally get down to 190lbs. But being stuck at 205 isn't bad.

So if we're using this as a general "advice to get in shape" thread, I'd like to jump in. I went to my Doctors this morning and I was just shy of 300 lbs., which is 30 lbs. heavier then I was two years ago when I first started using a CPAP machine (which my Pulmonologist at the time assured me would help me lose weight), and 60 lbs. heavier then I was five years ago. I don't know why I keep gaining weight. I'm on my exercise bike at least thirty minutes a day, and on weekdays I try to keep my diet limited to things like chicken, veggies, rice, fruit and yogurt. Yes on the weekends I splurge, sometimes pretty badly, but I try to balance that out with extra time on the exercise bike. Yet I just keep getting bigger. Anybody got any advice here?

I'd get it checked again if you can. Couldn't hurt, and a lot can change in three years. Also, is the exercise bike the only cardio you're getting? Try incorporating some other exercises if so. Once your body gets used to doing the same thing you stop getting results.

I have some light dumbbells that I'll do a couple of reps with before I get on the bike, and after I get off it I'll do some stretching exercises, mostly because of a back injury I had a couple years back.

I could be wrong but CPAP will help you breath and therefore be able to do more exercises because you breath better(and of course sleeping better helps lose weight). So basically, 30 minutes of Bike depending of your intensity might be too little, plus even with healthy food you can still eat too much. The basic is , you are not burning calories as much your body RETAINS.And that changes from people to people(genetics is a bitch). So you might need to do more exercise and eat lesss and in smaller frenquencies to lose more weight(when you eat in small times interval i.e 3 hours between small meals, you are getting your body to increase your metabolism). lifting umbells also won't lose you much weight and more build arm muscles, you probably need to find a calory burning exercise routine.

Yeah, sounds like you need to try working in some other exercises and/or going harder like Double said. I'm assuming you're pretty limited because f*** back injuries, but do what you can. I'm not an expert at this by any means, but I know about hitting a wall from doing the same stuff every time.

I just keep doing the stretching because my Doctor said it would help stop it from happening again. The only meds I'm taking are some blood pressure stuff. I don't see anything about weight gain as a side effect for them, but I guess it's possible. My biggest problem is just not having enough time in the day. On my days off I have no problem getting a full hour in on the bike, but on workdays, between work, the commute, keeping my apartment in one piece, getting a decent nights sleep, etc., I just have trouble finding the time and energy to squeeze in more then 30 minutes. Guess I'm gonna have to find it.

Guess I'm gonna have to find it. If you have a gym nearby, the stair climber nukes calories in no time. I was on for just five minutes the other day -- going pretty slowly because it's been years -- and I burned around 40 calories. Also, Planet Fitness actually has a room specifically for a thirty minute express total body workout. You workout when the green light is on, then rest and set up at the next station when it's red.

I've been eating more vegetables. Brussel Sprouts, green beans, etc. Currently down 25 pounds.

have anyone here ever considered doing a vlog channel on weight loss? I've been considering it. I've been posting updates on my Instagram to help keep motivated, but I'd like to do something a bit more substantial.its just a question of finding the time to edit. I've been eating more vegetables. Brussel Sprouts, green beans, etc. Currently down 25 pounds.
