Also signed a new CBA that goes to 2026. The current one was set to end after next season. So no potential lockout for a while. Which is big for the NHL as they have had a stay growth for a while and can keep that going. Keep that going and with MLB CBA ending after next season. The way the return to play went. I don't have high hopes of that getting done without a lockout. Really surprised they got a CBA done seemingly with little pain as possible. Surprised there are no compliance buyouts included either, unless it's something that will be addressed later on. I think it will be address later on, I think as a league they have to see just how much they are going to be effected and how long because of what is going on. It was surprising how fast they got it done because that not how it's gone in the past. A factor I think maybe the players knew a lot they may have wanted wasn't going to work because the pandemic effect on the league as a whole. Who knows when fans can return to arenas and that a a major part of team owner budget. I think they have to gave some kind of league has to make X amount of dollars before they can raise the cap and ext.

Calgary Flames defenceman Travis Hamonic will not join the Flames roster for the playoffs out of a precaution to keep his family safe from Covid-19. It’s a move that I actually really admire.

Heard Brian Burke talking on NHL radio this weekend, he was pretty adamant that for all the "never again!" vows he heard from GMs after the success Vegas had in their expansion draft, the salary cap likely being frozen for upwards of 5 years (it's supposed to be two, but Burke clearly thinks it'll go longer than that) means Seattle's draft will likely end up being even better for them, given the amount of teams who'll have to get out from under some contracts.

Seattle should use this as their intro song. And their goal song. And their victory song.

I think they'll get as many or more assets than Vegas did, but I don't know that they'll get as good a goalie or forward as Flower or Marchansault. I think teams will be willing to pay in picks to give up players decent players with bigger contracts. The Blues would pay them to take Faulk, I'm sure. SJ would probably love to get out of Burns or Karlsson. Maybe Georgiev or Raanta in net.

What is NY thinking starting Henrik? I know they said Shesty isn't dressed for the game (which sounds highly inappropriate, bubble or not) but Georgiev is the better goalie at this point in their careers.

I cannot stand Bettman (no one can) and I think he's an incompetent sock puppet for the owners. But I gotta say, he and the NHL have done a great job through all of this. Getting to the bubble with no positives. Covering all the empty seats looks way better than MLB, or NBA's weird fan cams. And the TV screens are a great touch. It just looks fantastic, and not terribly far from normal out there. Like an international play feel. It's been the most comforting presentation that any sport has had, including AEW's.
