I'd rather NBCsn stick with the Canadian teams during the playin round then move the current game to NHL net and play a round robin game. Also what is USA showing that they can't show mid day hockey instead of the NHL network

Also what is USA showing that they can't show mid day hockey instead of the NHL network I have no idea. It's like they think, because Canadian markets don't matter to Nielsen ratings, they're poisonous, so we shouldn't show them. That's why the Maple Leafs/Blue Jackets game was preempted the other night.

What is NY thinking starting Henrik? I know they said Shesty isn't dressed for the game (which sounds highly inappropriate, bubble or not) but Georgiev is the better goalie at this point in their careers. Rangers are thinking Alexis Lafreniere.

Jake Muzzin down in the Leafs/Jackets game. He is moving his arms and legs. Being stretchered out. Been down about ten minutes now.

He has a very innocuous fall against a Blue Jacket's leg and bends his neck the wrong way. Meanwhile earlier today, Barzal went full speed head-first into the boards in almost cartoonishly painful style. And he stayed in the game. I remember being at a Blues home game against the Sharks and Dan Boyle got boarded and I legit thought he died. Some of this is crazy scary. But you'd never think this one was, but it could end up being more serious than even that.

(the reason I became a Jerk/Caniac was because of the Whalers when I was very little because I liked the team colors. When the Whalers moved, I just kept the following.)

I'm seeing a lot of Devils fans saying they're ok with Vancouver losing this series since it'd bump NJ's first round pick from VAN to next season, since some think there's a good chance the Nucks might be worse next season after some guys seemed to play over their heads this time around. Gotta disagree, though; next year's draft is going to be a weird one given how COVID's hindered development and limited scouting, and given the depth of this year's pool I think I'd rather take the bird in the hand than look for two in the bush.
Meanwhile, that Voldemort-faced bastard John Hynes is going to screw us one more time by choking this series against Arizona and costing us the #10 pick, isn't he.

The Pacific division is a tire fire for the most part. I absolutely expect Vancouver to be in a better position next year with another year of Hughes and Petterson, unless Markstrom leaves in FA or they trade Boeser. I personally don't see either of those happening in the off-season. Not to mention a shot at Lafreniere and an overall deep draft at the top this year.

That is a new one. Hey, the reptilian shoe fits. Seriously, the Coyotes were utter trash to end the season, weren't going to make the playoffs, but now, nope! They get a lifeline to play for the Cup, AND a lifeline to potentially net the #1 overall draft pick. And now, thanks to the reverse magic of John Hynes, the Predators were able to outshoot the 'Yotes 50-30 yet never once lead the entire game, pretty much what they did in Game 3, as well, because he doesn't prioritize high percentage chances and he has no defensive system to speak of outside of "ignore shooting lanes" and "do whatever the hell you want with your sticks." I was having some fun hoping the 12 seeds would shock everyone, win, and boost the Devils' pick from AZ up to #9, but now I've got to hope they lose so the Devils' pick from Vancouver doesn't sink too low. Seriously, can't say enough about having a shitty coach help ruin your regular season, and now ruin your postseason while coaching another team.

And out go the Penguins. Unsurprisingly, UrinatingTree is pissed because of how bad they've played.

Man, gotta think Tampa and Philly are licking their chops right now for the chance to draw Montreal in the first round, while Vegas or Colorado most likely get the shot at Arizona...but, well, playoffs, anything can happen, as we just plainly saw. Still, get to a best of 7 and it's slightly less of a crapshoot, I don't see the Cinderellas lasting.
Pittsburgh's still got the horses to be legitimate right now, but the clock is officially ticking on their successful run; could get ugly in a couple of seasons, but if that comes to pass they'll always have the three Cups to look back on in the Crosby era.

It's Tampa. After the last two seasons I refuse to pick them to win a series until they finally do because they disappear faster than a David Copperfield magic act when it matters most. Speaking of Tampa last year....

And the Leafs come all the way back to force overtime. They ended up winning, forcing Game 5. Keep in mind that this was literally a night after the same situation happened to them, where they had a 3-0 lead and Columbus came back to force OT and win it there. Wild shit going down in hockey tonight.

Last year was abominable for them, no doubt, but two years ago they made the conference finals; missed the playoffs in '17 but made the second round in '16, won the conference the year before that. Their biggest crime has been not winning the Cup with the Stamkos-led core, but otherwise they're a decently performing playoff team, all things considered. Meantime, I need to hope that the Coyotes can win this round now and improve the second pick they sent Jersey in the Hall trade...not exactly feeling confident about that, but screw it, it's a rooting interest, at least.
