Can anyone figure out the Sharks? I've never seen streakiness like this before. EDIT: Well, Peter DeBoer is gone. Credit for bringing us to the Finals a few years back, no credit for the conservative, uninspired play that cost us the series. Now which way do we go? Sharks are going in the wrong direction. Joe will be gone soon, EK looks like a totally different guy than he was in Ottawa, Burns is getting up there, goaltending is a mess, and they just fired a pretty decent coach (though maybe he quickly lost the room). I like Meier and Labanc, but their team's window is closing fast.

Conservative, uninspired play? That sounds like DeBoer alright. He was exactly the same way on the Devils.

They spend so much to the cap on one player in Erik Karlsson so they never replaced the two key players and the depth isn't there. The GM kind part of there issues as well. I don’t know a lot about hockey, but the Karlsson mega-extension never felt right to me. At the top of his game was he worth superstar money? I saw people justifying it by saying he was just banged up which made him look less impressive than he normally is/was

Not sure how to link tweets but former Bruins goalie Tim Thomas has announced he’s now nonfunctional after his career. Had a brain scan 2/3 of his brain is only getting 5% blood flow.
Bob McKenzie has tweeted it.

OHL has cancelled a game after Tucker Tynan suffers injury. Looks like a skate might have nicked his femoral artery. Seriously. Don’t look it up.

I saw people justifying it by saying he was just banged up which made him look less impressive than he normally is/was He was before he had the ankle surgery a couple years ago. He nothing like he was and been in a noticeable decline. He solid at best now and yes for a D-Man he was superstar pre ankle. Numbers: 2016-2017 GP 77 G 17 A 54 PT 71 (His last season pre surgery Season as a Senator.) Which these numbers was what he did pretty much six season with the team. He was around upper teens to 20 goals and around the 70 mark in points which for a Defense-men is very good. He had hit 20 goals and 80 points a could times. The next season (He had surgery in off season so coming back from injury): 2017-2018 GP71 G9 A53 PTs 62 (So he played six games less and almost 10pts less) Last season: GP: 53 G3 A42 PT45 (Now in The Playoffs he did close to his 2016-2017 run) But what we have seen is a decline year to year and injuries still been a problem. So we are looking at 2 seasons of falling off on what he was. I don't think it called for 11 Million. Right now he at: 3g 21A at 24pts in 32 games Which isn't terrible because he getting the points. But would I call that 11 Million good? Not really.

But would I call that 11 Million good? Not really. Karlsson was reaching his peak the season he got injured. As the playoffs went on, he was very banged up but since they made it to Game 7 of the ECF, he just kept pushing. That offseason, he said that doctor's removed half his ankle bone. He's been injured or only above average ever since. Also, his big drop-off hasn't been offensively. He's not the dynamic playmaker he was before, but he's still very good. But he used to be a solid, though not great, defensive defenseman. Now, especially in the WCF and this season, he's regressed to how bad he was his first few seasons defensively. He's making boatloads more money, but playing worse at both ends and projects to decline more over time with age and presumably getting more brittle as cumulative injuries take its' toll. Also, did you see Sunny tonight? What a great team win. Kyrou looks real good too.

He only been getting better and better from when we got him and I don't think anybody expected this after his first year but last year he came in like a whole different player and just getting better, making that trade for him look that much better. Kyrou is going to be a stud its only a matter of time before the numbers start rolling in and clearly they know it too since he been called up they had him in the top 2 lines. I think once he gets his feet wet a little more its going to take off. That what I am saying about Karlsson, San Jose paid him for what he used to be instead of what he is now and it's going to hurt them. His offense is declining and so is his game play.

Detroit broke their 12 game losing streak against the Jets last night.
Onto the next losing streak!

Taylor Hall is not in tonight's Devils/Avs game. Might be a sign that he's going bye-bye soon.

Taylor Hall is not in tonight's Devils/Avs game. Might be a sign that he's going bye-bye soon. He's the biggest name who is inevitably going to get dealt this season. Very interested to see the return, much like Stone last year could go either way. The Sens ended up getting one of the true blue chip D men out there for Stone in a S&T. I don't know if Hall ends up signing an extension to wherever he's dealt, but I think even as a rental the return could be a good prospect and a 1st. Or it could be a bunch of trash.

I think it’s a guarantee that Hall is a pure rental. I’d be very surprised to not see him test free agency regardless of where he gets dealt.

Yeah ok that first comment is a bit inappropriate but it's not like this is Don Cherry territory or anything. It's mostly just a tactless joke about a co-worker.

In the barnyard Federal Prospects Hockey League, the Battle Creek Rumble Bees, a slapdash team that was hastily assembled to make a 10th franchise for scheduling purposes, has reached a record of 0-24. To celebrate their achievement:

twitter.com/BradyTrett/status/1211459186778755072Officials f***ed up in Columbus. Clock ran down an extra second in overtime, it didn't get fixed, Columbus score 0.2 seconds after the time expires in overtime. Shootout happens, Korpisalo gets injured and Columbus loses. Tortorella is rightfully pissed off.

Sucks for CLB fans. The league has missed a lot of calls the last couple years, more than is reasonably expected. And ya hate to see any undeserved Blackhawks win. But Torts is a douche and seeing him go off always brings me great joy.

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, NHL refs screwing up hurts the league, especially since Chicago got an ill-gotten win. On the other, the Blue Jackets ARE my least favorite team in the league (and before you ask, I arbitrarily chose them as my least favorite team since I figured they needed at least one person in North America to have a deep hatred of all things Blue Jacket).

I think Pierre McGuire enjoyed that corn dog a bit too much.
